Despite shattering records and posting a staggering 0.23 ERA with 57 strikeouts, the Milwaukee Brewers' Jacob Misiorowski’s historic May wasn't enough to edge out Cristopher Sanchez for monthly honors.

Sadly, for Milwaukee Brewers fans, Jacob Misiorowski's historic month of May didn't result in him being named NL Pitcher of the Month.

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Cristopher Sanchez pitched out of his mind, and it just so happened to be in the same month where Miz seemed to break record after record.

Ultimately, the MLB opted to go with Sanchez over Misiorowski, with the only real explanation being due to Sanchez not allowing a run.

It's a bit mind-boggling they didn't go with Co-Pitchers of the Month, but the MLB stands by their decision, one that snubbed Miz from a historic month.

Sanchez Wins NL Pitcher of the Month Over Miz

There's no denying Sanchez deserves this award, but so does Misiorowski. In a comparison posted by the MLB ahead of the award being revealed, Miz posted a 5-0 record which is one more win than Sanchez had in the month of May.

Sure, Sanchez had a 0.00 ERA in 39.0 innings pitched, but Miz allowed just one run in 38.1 innings which turned out to be a 0.23 ERA.

Misiorowski struck out 57 batters, 12 more than Sanchez had in the month (45). Miz walked three more batters, but batters hit just .109 against him compared to the .181 they hit against Sanchez.

It's not the end of the world that Miz didn't win this award, but it still sucks to see when these two pitchers were so close. It seems like Misiorowski's one run allowed in the month came back to haunt him, a sentence that doesn't even feel real to say.

Miz Can Use This as Motivation

The Brewers' newest ace is deep in Cy Young conversations, but once again, he has his work cut out for him. There's no one throwing 100-plus mph consistently like he is, and it's clear Miz will be up not only against Sanchez, but a guy like Pittsburgh's Paul Skenes as well.

This is just one monthly award, but Miz has earned everything that's come his way. If he uses this as motivation, then the sky is the limit as to how good he could be in the month of June to prove voters wrong in how they voted this past month.

Again, take nothing away from Sanchez, it just feels odd to not go with Co-Pitchers of the Month in a scenario like this. There were no real winners, only one true loser in this vote and for how well Miz pitched in May, that just doesn't feel right.
