Pat Murphy turns to a Cy Young favorite and a rising phenom to anchor the Milwaukee Brewers NLDS rotation.
Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy dropped the expected news that Jacob Misiorowski and Logan Henderson will be the team's game one and game two starters for the National League Division Series.
This is far from breaking news, but Murphy confirmed it during his press conference on Tuesday, Sept. 29, according to Brewers' Adam McCalvy.
Murphy noted that the announcement is subject to change, "as is everything in life."
Ultimately though, this is the one-two combination that could do some incredible damage for the Brewers.
Misiorowski is fresh off what should be a Cy Young Award-winning season, and Henderson continues to fly under the radar as one of the best young arms in the game.
Game one starter: Jacob Misiorowski
The Brewers will find out their opponent as soon as Wednesday, Sept. 30. Since the San Diego Padres are hosting the Chicago Cubs, those West Coast games start quite a bit later, so it'll more than likely be figured out in the wee hours of the morning on Thursday, Oct. 1, should the series only last two games.
It's a best-of-three series between the Padres and Cubs, and then the winner will come to American Family Field for game one of the NLDS on Saturday, Oct. 3.
Misiorowski made back-to-back starts against the Cubs to start out the month of September, and it's a team he made a pair of appearances against in the postseason a year ago.
As for the Padres, Miz threw seven incredible innings against them back on Wednesday, May 13. He threw seven scoreless innings in an outing that saw him allow only four hits and strike out 10 batters, though the Brewers somehow lost that game, 3-1.
Game two starter: Logan Henderson
The thing with Henderson is he may not have made a ton of super lengthy starts this season, but he was undoubtedly one of, if not the most consistent starter in this Brewers rotation.
With an incredible 11-3 record, his 2.47 ERA speaks volumes as the 24-year-old hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his 23 career starts.
Henderson, similar to Misiorowski, made a pair of starts against the Cubs in early September.
When it comes to the Padres, his lone appearance against them was on Monday, Aug. 10, in a game that saw him pick up his second loss of the year.
Keep in mind, Henderson only gave up three earned runs in 6.1 innings, and a major part of that was due to it being on the road and him giving up two home runs.
