Brewers Reach Arbitration Deals With Five Players cover image

Brice Turang, Trevor Megill among five Brewers players who come to terms with new contracts.

On Thursday, MLB teams like the Milwaukee Brewers had to reach arbitration deals with players. The deadline for finalizing these deals was recognized all around the league at this time.

There were a number of Brewers players, like Brice Turang and Trevor Megill, who came to terms with the ballclub.

Arbitration, in the MLB world, is a deadline where players and teams exchange figures on contracts. Ultimately, these arbitration contracts result in one-year deals. In some cases, multiple-year deals can be reached, too.

As of Thursday afternoon, Jan. 8, Turang, Megill, Andrew Vaughn, Ángel Zerpa, and Garrett Mitchell had reached contract deals with Milwaukee.  William Contreras remained one Milwaukee player without a deal that was entering arbitration.

Jake Bauers, who also entered into arbitration, reached a new deal with the Brewers back in November for $2.7 million. He's signed and will come back to the ballclub this season.

According to MLB Trade Rumors, Vaughn reached a contract deal worth $7.65 million. Megill's deal is worth $4.7 million, while Zerpa finalized a $1.095 million contract. For Mitchell, his contract amounts to $950,000. What about Turang? His contract is worth $4.15 million.

Turang hit .288 last season with 18 home runs and 81 RBIs. He stole 24 bases and had an OPS of .794. Vaughn hit .254 with 14 home runs and 65 RBIs. His OPS was .719, too.

Zerpa was 5.2 with a 4.18 ERA. He had 58 strikeouts and a 1.376 WHIP. Mitchell is a versatile outfielder that the Brewers hope will perform better this season. Bauers hit .235 with seven homers and 28 RBIs.

With these players coming back this season, Brewers manager Pat Murphy probably hopes they all can contribute to a repeat run into the National League Championship Series. Of course, Murphy would love to see the Brew Crew equal or better their 97 wins from the 2025 MLB season.

Still, these players hopefully will improve their numbers for Milwaukee. When Brewers fans come out to American Family Field this season, these players are going to be under their scrutiny.

Let's see if they call can perform at a higher level this season. Murphy sure does hope so.
