Milwaukee Brewers Jacob Misiorowski fireballer dominated the 2026 season with league-leading numbers across the board.
In news that Milwaukee Brewers fans saw coming, Jacob Misiorowski has been named a National League Cy Young Award finalist.
Misiorowski, the expected winner, will be competing against the Atlanta Braves' Chris Sale and Philadelphia Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez for the honor.
Here in 2026, the Baseball Writers' Association of America has a relatively straightforward decision to make, though there's still enough of an argument for Sanchez to win over Misiorowski.
That said, Misiorowski's complete game, 15-strikeout performance against the Phillies certainly put the world on notice.
Remember, postseason games don't matter, so even though he won both of his starts in the World Series, that's not a deciding factor as to whether or not he'll beat Sale or Sanchez.
Some of these sets of finalists are going to come down to the wire in a back-and-forth battle. But it's been known for quite some time that Misiorowski, who led the league in seemingly every major category, will be the 2026 NL Cy Young Award winner.
Brewers should have another Cy Young winner
Just a couple of years ago, Corbin Burnes won the Cy Young Award while still with the Brewers. It's been five years since then, but Burnes joined the likes of Pete Vuckovich (1982) and Rollie Fingers (1981) as the only other winners in franchise history.
Misiorowski was a huge reason why the Brewers were able to secure their first World Series championship, and now he's set to become the fourth all-time Cy Young winner in the organization.
The 24-year-old ended the regular season with a stellar 16-5 record. His 1.80 ERA led the league, as did his 252 strikeouts and 0.80 WHIP.
His whiff rate and swing-and-miss stuff were certainly down in the playoffs, but no one can let that fool them.
In the regular season, Misiorowski was the best pitcher in all of baseball, and it arguably wasn't even close.
The Missouri native started the year 1-2, but allowed just four earned runs in those two losses on April 7 and April 19.
Keep in mind that was the only point in the regular season where he had a losing record. Of the games where he recorded a decision, Misiorowski won seven straight before his next loss on June 19.
Fatigue was an issue down the stretch, so the Brewers played it carefully with their ace. That said, it makes his league-leading numbers even more impressive, especially those 252 strikeouts.
In 30 starts, Misiorowski was a 6.5 WAR player with a 5.7 K/BB ratio.
