Fresh off extensive rest, Milwaukee Brewers' Jacob Misiorowski is set to take the mound in Game 1 of the World Series.
After roughly a week of waiting, Milwaukee Brewers fans officially know that Jacob Misiorowski will take the mound in Game 1 of the 2026 World Series.
Misiorowski last pitched in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday, Oct. 11.
He lasted just 4.1 innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but that one was one more than he recorded in Game 1 of the National League Division Series on Saturday, Oct. 3.
It's been a waiting game for Misiorowski. While the team thought about using him as a reliever in Game 4 of the NLDS, they opted not to, and that was the correct decision as Trevor Megill had no issues punching the Brewers ticket to the NLCS.
So far this postseason, Miz has allowed a surprising three runs in just 8.1 innings. He's allowed nine hits and has walked four batters while striking out 11.
Misiorowski has yet to allow a home run in the postseason, but he's going to be facing a patient yet powerful Tampa Bay Rays lineup on Friday, Oct. 23.
Brewers give Misirowoski the ball in Game 1
He's gotten the start in the first two series openers, so manager Pat Murphy didn't have to think too hard about this decision.
As expected as the news was, it's still extremely important to know that the Brewers have all their trust in the expected Cy Young winner despite him not looking as sharp in either of his two October appearances.
Milwaukee took it easy with Misiorowski at certain points in the season, often giving him an extra day of rest when they deemed necessary.
That said, he's gotten far more than just one extra day of rest in between his starts in the playoffs.
The Brewers haven't needed to use Misiorowski more than once in either of their first two series, and that mostly has to do with the fact that neither series went past four games.
Tampa Bay, which just clinched its third-ever World Series appearance on Monday, Oct. 19, has yet to reveal a Game 1 starter, though all eyes are on a Misiorowski vs. Drew Rasmussen showdown.
Rasmussen is one of two former Brewers pitchers in this Rays rotation, and the second just so happened to be the American League Championship MVP, Freddy Peralta.
Peralta should earn the start at American Family Field in Game 2 on Saturday, Oct. 24, against Logan Henderson.
