With the Milwaukee Brewers getting ready to take the field at American Family Field in Milwaukee for an exhibition game, where does the team's lineup rank?
Glad you asked. One man who knows a thing or two about MLB lineups is Jim Bowden, who has been an executive in the MLB world.
These days, Bowden, who also is an analyst on SiriusXM's MLB Radio, writes about the MLB world for The Athletic. In his latest story, Bowden breaks down all 30 MLB clubs' lineups.
In his estimation, Milwaukee has the eighth-best lineup heading into the 2026 MLB season.
"The Brewers won the most games during the regular season last year and have one of the best minor-league systems in the sport, led by top prospect Jesús Made," Bowden wrote.
"Their lineup is one of the most athletic in the game and includes six hitters coming off double-digit stolen base seasons and six hitters coming off double-digit home run seasons," he said.
Bowden points out some key additions that Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold was able to get for Brewers manager Pat Murphy. Among those additions are infielders David Hamilton and Luis Rengifo, and catcher-designated hitter Gary Sánchez.
Also, Bowden puts a breakout candidate tag on outfielder Jackson Chourio. Infielder-outfielder Jett Williams is on Bowden's rookie watch, and shortstop Jesús Made, infielder Luis Peña, shortstop Cooper Pratt, third baseman Andrew Fischer, and catcher Jeferson Quero have been placed on the prospect watch by Bowden.
Chourio smashed 21 home runs while stealing 21 bases last season. That's while dealing with injuries in the 2025 MLB season. Bowden said that Chourio hasn't even reached his potential as of yet.
"Brice Turang is arguably the best overall second baseman in the game and Christian Yelich, 34, is hitting for power and running well now that his back is finally healthy," Bowden wrote.
"William Contreras is one of the best offensive catchers in the game, while speedy outfielders Sal Frelick and Garrett Mitchell are winning players who run and defend well," Bowden continued.
Bowden mentioned that prospect Jett Williams, who came over in the Freddy Peralta trade, is worth paying attention to as well.
On Monday night, the Brewers will host the Cincinnati Reds. First pitch at American Family Field is set for 7:40 p.m. ET.
