Freddy Peralta faces his former club in Game 3 of the World Series while the Milwaukee Brewers counter with southpaw Robert Gasser.
When the World Series shifts to Tropicana Field, former Milwaukee Brewers ace Freddy Peralta is set to take the mound against Robert Gasser.
Gasser will be the first left-handed starter the Tampa Bay Rays see in the World Series, and the Brewers may not have a lot of lefties starting in this series, so it'll be interesting to see how manager Kevin Cash handles his lineup.
The longtime manager opted to go with Nick Martinez over Drew Rasmussen in Game 1, and while it's still too early to tell if that decision backfired, it allowed an extra day of rest for Drew Rasmussen and Peralta.
The pair of former Brewers are now set to start in Games 2 and 3 against their former team. The stakes couldn't be any higher, and it'll be quite the atmosphere at Tropicana Field when Peralta throws the first pitch of the game on Monday, Oct. 26.
Brewers face an old friend in Game 3
Thankfully for the Brewers, they were able to face Peralta earlier this year when he was with the New York Mets.
That said, Peralta has done a complete 180 from everything that transpired ahead of the trade deadline.
Peralta is as locked in as it gets, as seen with his 2-0 record this postseason with a stellar 1.08 ERA.
Remember, this is the player who was named the American League Championship Series MVP, so it can't be overstated just how well Peralta pitched in that series.
This is only the third-ever World Series appearance for the Rays, and while the Brewers have only appeared in two, Peralta certainly isn't going to take it easy on his former team.
Gasser earns his second Game 3 start
Manager Pat Murphy opted to go with Dustin May over Gasser in the National League Division Series, but he shifted things once the National League Championship Series came around.
There's an argument to be made that in those two series, Gasser pitched better than both Logan Henderson and Jacob Misiorowski.
Misiorowski rebounded with a solid Game 1 performance in the World Series, so it'll be interesting to see how Henderson fares in Game 2 against Rasmussen.
All eyes will be on the southpaw in the first of what could be three straight games to take place away from American Family Field.
Gasser doesn't have a decision yet this postseason, but he sports an incredible 1.00 ERA and has consistently proved there's no moment too big for him.
