After struggling throughout the NLDS against San Diego, Brice Turang delivered a pivotal home run against Tarik Skubal for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Brice Turang could not have picked a better time to rediscover his power at the plate.

The Milwaukee Brewers second baseman entered the National League Championship Series searching for answers after a disappointing postseason showing against the San Diego Padres.

However, Turang delivered one of Milwaukee's biggest moments in its 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1, launching a game-tying home run against left-hander Tarik Skubal.

The result gave Milwaukee an early advantage in the best-of-seven series and offered hope that Turang's offensive struggles could be behind him as the Brewers pursue a World Series appearance.

Turang delivers against Skubal

Turang's postseason struggles were difficult to overlook entering the NLCS. He finished the NLDS against San Diego with just two hits in 16 at-bats, batting .125 without a home run.

His lack of production was especially costly during a four-game series in which Milwaukee needed consistent contributions throughout its lineup. Turang struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving eight runners on base while recording multiple strikeouts.

Those struggles carried into the opening game against Los Angeles as Turang grounded out in his first plate appearance after fouling a pitch off his knee.

His next opportunity, however, produced a dramatically different result.

Trailing the Dodgers in the fourth inning, Turang faced Skubal and connected on a 95.5 mph sinker on the inside corner. Despite facing a left-handed pitcher, the second baseman drove the ball toward left-center field for a solo home run that tied the game.

The swing was particularly impressive given Turang's limited history of power against left-handed pitching. It also demonstrated the offensive potential Milwaukee needs from him during the most important stretch of its season.

A timely breakthrough for Brewers

Turang's home run meant more than simply putting a run on the scoreboard. It provided a potential turning point for a hitter who had been unable to find consistent success during the postseason.

According to reports, Turang spent extra time working with Milwaukee's hitting coaches in the days leading up to the NLCS opener. That additional preparation included late-night work in the batting cages as he attempted to make adjustments and regain his rhythm.

The payoff came against one of baseball's most challenging pitchers, making the home run an encouraging sign for the Brewers moving forward.

Turang still has to demonstrate that he can sustain that production. One swing does not erase an entire series of struggles, and Milwaukee will need more than an isolated moment to get the most out of its second baseman.

Nevertheless, the timing could hardly be better. With the Brewers holding a 1-0 series lead, Turang has an opportunity to build on his breakthrough rather than carry his NLDS frustrations into another round.
