The Milwaukee Brewers wrapped up Spring Training play on Tuesday with a 4-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
Right-hander Brandon Sproat looked ready for the 2026 MLB season to begin, which it will officially do for the Brewers on Thursday. Sproat worked four innings, allowing just two hits, no runs, and struck out five. His Spring ERA finished up at 3.46.
Jake Bauers hit his seventh homer of the Spring in the bottom of the second inning, putting Milwaukee up 1-0. In the bottom of the fifth, David Hamilton's RBI single brought Bauers home, upping the Brewers' lead to 2-0.
Reds phenom Elly De La Cruz smoked his third homer of the Spring for Cincinnati in the top of the sixth inning, accounting for the Reds' lone run.
Brandon Lockridge's two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning brought home Cooper Pratt and Luis Lara, putting the Brewers up 4-1. That wrapped up the scoring on Tuesday.
Sproat picked up the win, evening his Spring record to 1-1. The Reds' Chase Burns worked five innings, giving up four hits and two runs (both earned). Burns did record seven strikeouts in his outing, but picked up the loss.
Milwaukee finishes its Spring Training and exhibition games with a 14-16 record.
That, though, goes into the rear-view mirror. Whatever the Brewers' players learned during Cactus League play and in exhibition games will now have to be transferred to the 2026 MLB regular season.
Milwaukee has a day off on Wednesday before welcoming the Chicago White Sox to American Family Field to start the season on Opening Day. Jacob Misiorowski gets ready to go on the mound for the Brew Crew.
First pitch on Thursday is set for 2:10 p.m. ET.
Meanwhile, Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold was busy getting some more help for the Milwaukee bullpen on Tuesday.
Milwaukee acquired right-hander Jake Woodford from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for minor-league right-hander K.C. Hunt and cash, according to a story from Brewers beat reporter Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.
To make room for Woodford on the 40-man roster, outfielder Akil Baddoo was transferred to the 60-day Injured List.
Woodford played the first four seasons of his MLB career with the St. Louis Cardinals. Last season, the Arizona Diamondbacks picked Woodford up after he spent some time in the Chicago Cubs' minor-league system.
Last November, the Rays signed Woodford as a non-roster invitee to Spring Training.
