Despite team ownership comments, anything is possible as Milwaukee looks to retool its roster.

There's no doubt that the Milwaukee Brewers had a great 2025 MLB season and one of the reasons was starting pitcher Freddy Peralto.

Peralta has been viewed as the Brewers' ace of their rotation and it's a well-deserved moniker.

Last season, he finished with a 2.70 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP with 204 strikeouts in 176 2/3 innings.

Recently, fellow starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff accepted the team's qualifying offer. He'll be back in 2026 and so will Peralta.

But there are some contract factors to take into consideration when talking about Peralto. He's due to earn $8 million next season. For teams looking to add a veteran starter, they might be able to do with that salary.

Still, the Brewers also could look to keep him around. Peralta enters next season in the final year of his contract.

Team owner Mark Attanasio said on Tuesday, "Independent decisions Matt and his group will make. We’re certainly excited about our rotation now." Attanasio made his comments in a communique with The Athletic.

Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold also told The Athletic, "Independent decisions, and excited about our rotation."

Mind you, those comments aren't thorough. Yet both men appear amenable to keeping Peralta around.

One thing that Brewers management doesn't want to do is ruffle fans' feathers. Trading away Peralta at this point would be another reason for Milwaukee fans to strike out against team ownership.

Peralta might not be on the trading block at this time. Still, the Winter Meetings are coming up pretty soon and anything can happen when teams and general managers get together.
