Jacob Misiorowski Needs to Step Up for Milwaukee Brewers cover image

Now that Freddy Peralta is gone, Milwaukee Brewers will be leaning on Jacob Misiorowski to pitch well.

With the Milwaukee Brewers heading to Spring Training in just a number of days, the team will be adjusting to life without Freddy Peralta.

Now that their ace pitcher is gone, the Brewers will need to have another pitcher in the rotation step up and do his best to take Peralta's spot.

They need a pitcher that they can trust to come in and deliver all the time.

So, who is that pitcher? Well, according to a new article from MLB.com, the ballclub probably will lean heavily on Jacob Misiorowski this season.

MLB.com reporter Thomas Harrigan pointed toward Misiorowski in a list of seven players who need to step up for their ballclubs. These seven players are listed as ones who need to replace a star player that no longer is with their former team.

" The Brewers’ decision to trade Freddy Peralta to the (New York) Mets has placed greater responsibility on the arms behind him, perhaps none more so than Misiorowski," Harrigan wrote.

"The 23-year-old flamethrower endured an uneven rookie season, but given the quality of his stuff, the Brewers will be counting on him to fill one of the top two spots on their starting staff alongside veteran Brandon Woodruff," Harrigan continued.

"Woodruff’s injury history only adds to the pressure on Misiorowski to establish himself as a frontline starter," he wrote.

Last season, according to Baseball Reference, Misiorowski posted a 5-3 record in 2025 with a 4.36 ERA. In 15 games, 14 of which were starts, he struck out 87 batters and finished with a 1.242 WHIP.

When looking at his pitching arsenal, according to Baseball Savant, Misirorowski leaned on his four-seam fastball 55.2% of the time. That was followed up by his slider, curveball, and changeup.

Misirorowski is going to need all four pitches working seamlessly this season.

When Brewers manager Pat Murphy gets his first look at Misirorowski in Spring Training, he might want to see how much improvement, if any, Misirorowski has made in his pitches.

It's possible that Misirorowski did some work in the offseason on improving his pitches. Murphy might just look at him as his new ace, given that Misirorowski still has room to grow and improve at just 24 years old.

He averaged 99.3 MPH on his four-seamer, while he clocked in at 94.1 MPH on his slider. Those are impressive numbers, especially with him almost dinging that 100 MPH mark for his fastball.

Let's see if Misirorowski can add a number or two on those pitches that he really uses a lot when taking the mound.
