The Milwaukee Brewers' 24-year-old phenom eclipsed legends like Corbin Burnes and Ben Sheets, shattering a 22-year-old single-season strikeout record.
Jacob Misiorowski has done it again.
The Milwaukee Brewers' superstar and Cy Young Award candidate managed to set another franchise record, with this one coming against the Los Angeles Angels.
It's not solely against the Angels, but they contributed to another double-digit strikeout game, one that just so happens to be his 10th of the season.
Upon striking out his 10th batter on Sunday, Aug. 2, Miz surpassed the likes of Corbin Burnes, Ben Sheets, Brandon Woodruff, among others as he now holds sole possession of the most double-digit strikeout games by a Brewers pitcher in a single season.
Misiorowski gets 10th double-digit strikeout game of 2026
It's remarkable to think that in just 21 starts this season, Misiorowski has already taken down some of the best pitchers in franchise history.
Burnes held the record alongside Sheets as the pair had nine. Burnes last did it in 2022, while Sheets set the standard in 2004. But now, Misiorowski has wiped out a record that's stood for 22 years.
Burnes, who did so nine times in 2022, is also joined on this list by Woodruff who had seven double-digit strikeout games in the same season. To show how great Burnes was, he is now tied for second and in third as he had eight double-digit strikeout games in 2021 as well.
Regardless, this is a record that now belongs to Misiorowski, and he set the new franchise record with nearly two full months left to go in the 2026 season. This kid is unstoppable, and even that may be an understatement.
Misiorowski's stuff is untouchable
Sometimes striking out a bunch of batters isn't good because it raises the pitch count, but that has never been an issue for Misiorowski.
The 24-year-old is fresh off being named to his second All-Star game. He only struck out six batters in his first start of the second half, but that was due to him being on a pitch count because of "arm fatigue."
In his very next start, he struck out 12 batters, which was the most he'd struck out since his 15-strikeout complete game back on Friday, June 12.
Misirowoski not only continues to make franchise history, but he keeps expanding his league-leading strikeout numbers. Both his ERA and WHIP remain in fantastic spots, but the number of times he's made batters look silly, Mike Trout included, is absolutely remarkable, to say the least.
