Team Great Britain Bounces Milwaukee Brewers cover image

Five-run fifth inning proved to be the undoing of Milwaukee Brewers as Team Great Britain wins 7-3.

A number of MLB players are taking their places for Team Great Britain in the upcoming World Baseball Classic. Ahead of that, though, the team is playing some exhibition games and one of those was against the Milwaukee Brewers.

While the Brewers would have loved to pick up the victory on Tuesday, that didn't happen. Team Great Britain put together a five-run fifth inning and that catapulted the squad to a 7-3 win over the Brewers.

Brewers pitcher Jared Koenig just had a tough time in the fifth inning. In one-third of an inning of work, Koenig gave up four hits, five runs (all earned), walked two, didn't strike out a batter, and surrendered a home run. Koenig picked up the loss against Team Great Britain.

Yeah, this game will not go into Koenig's scrapbook as a positive memory. Maybe, though, he can learn something from it and come out looking better the next chance he gets to pitch.

Kristian Robinson's RBI single in the top of the first put Team Great Britain up 1-0. In the bottom of the third, third baseman Jazz Chisholm's throwing error for Team Great Britain allowed the Brewers to score the tying run to make it 1-1.

Matt Koperniak's RBI single in the top of the fourth gave Team Great Britain a 2-1 edge. The Brewers' David Hamilton, though, tied things up again at 2-2 with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth.

Then, Team Great Britain got to work in the fifth. Harry Ford slammed a two-run homer, putting the Brits up 4-2. Robinson followed with another RBI single, giving Team Great Britain a 5-2 lead. They tacked on two more runs to grab a 7-2 edge.

Milwaukee's Akil Baddoo smacked a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, putting the Brewers within 7-3. But that was all the scoring that took place in this exhibition game.

The Brew Crew gets back to Cactus League play on Wednesday with a matchup against the Chicago Cubs, their National League Central Division rivals. First pitch is slated for 3:10 p.m. ET.

Right now, the Brewers are about three weeks away from Opening Day at American Family Field in Milwaukee. The Brewers open their 2026 season with a home series against the Chicago White Sox. They'll take the following Friday off, then wrap up their first three-game series against the White Sox with games on Saturday and Sunday.
