With six RBIs in win over Athletics on Tuesday, Tyler Black wants to get Milwaukee Brewers' attention.

Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Tyler Black wants to make a statement in Spring Training right now.

Well, he definitely stole the headlines on Tuesday in a Brewers' 10-0 win over the Athletics. Black had a six-RBI day, including a very rare three-run single.

Did he do enough to earn a spot on the 40-man roster heading into Opening Day? That's not clear at this point. But Black is going to do his best to get the attention of Brewers manager Pat Murphy and his staff right now.

Besides the three-run single, Black hit a two-run home run and a run-scoring double.

That's a whale of a day for a guy looking to become a bench role player during the regular season.

“Anytime you have a big day at the yard,” Black said, according to MLB.com Brewers beat reporter Adam McCalvy, “it will put a big smile on your face. It’s just one day. I have to build on it.”

Clark has spent five seasons in the minors with a couple of call-ups to the big leagues at different times. Why hasn't Clark stuck with the Brewers' MLB club? Well, one reason might be that defense isn't a strong part of Clark's game.

He's seen time in left field and first base primarily in his career, but he's also willing to play some third base if needed. Still, the defense might be the one thing that's keeping Clark from sticking in the majors.

Of course, he's only hit in the low .200s in his major-league stints. That's not going to really set the world on fire among the Brewers' coaches and front offices.

A day like Tuesday, though, can get his name somewhere, some place, on the potential list for a 2026 MLB season stint.

“It’s been a really small sample, and the biggest thing for me is not looking too much into it,” Black said. “It’s tough being up and down a lot of times, for a lot of guys.

"But I’m continuing to show up with my process," Black said. "Get better every year and learn. Every time I go down, I try to take something from the vets, from playing against guys. I’m learning, for sure."

Having a level of confidence in himself as a person and player matters to Clark. But it's also something that Murphy wants to see in any player looking to stick in the majors.

“Black has enough power to be an everyday player, there’s no doubt,” Murphy said. “But how that comes out, it’s all about how he develops as a hitter. We knew he has it in there.”

Can Black make the big-league roster? There's still time in Spring Training in the Cactus League to make that a reality. Time will tell.
