For the Milwaukee Brewers, it's going to feel a little weird not having Freddy Peralta in their starting rotation. But, that does leave space for a guy like Logan Henderson to come on through and perform at a high level.
Will Henderson break on through for the Brewers this season?
He's positioned himself well to make this a reality. Eno Sarris of The Athletic put together a stellar article on pitchers who might have breakout seasons in 2026. On his list of pitchers in his spotlight is Henderson.
The right-hander has some pitches in his arsenal that he can dip into this season.
In putting together its list of pitchers potentially having breakout seasons, The Athletic had some specific criteria that the outlet followed.
Data courtesy The AthleticNow, what did Sarris say specifically about Henderson?
"The changeup is a beauty," Sarris wrote. "Henderson’s version gets five inches more drop and four inches more horizontal movement than the average changeup. Of course, he secured his first strikeout in the big leagues using this pitch."
The article featured a video that details how much Henderson's slider can be used as a pitch to get right-handed hitters out. That's big for a righty like Henderson to be able to use on a consistent basis.
"Henderson doesn’t have a breaking ball that profiles as a great pitch for whiffs against righties," Sarris wrote. "His slider is slow and he doesn’t spin the ball all that well. His cutter has below-average glove-side movement, which is an important feature of good cutters."
Sarris continued to effuse praise over Henderson's changeup. Obviously, Sarris sees that as a key pitch for Henderson to use early and often all season long.
"And the cutter is good enough to take some heat off his four-seamer whether the batter is a righty or a lefty," Sarris wrote. "We’re moving into less sure things here, since Henderson has some flaws, and isn’t a lock for the rotation on Opening Day, but he has the tools to succeed."
Henderson, a Texas native who was born in Houston and pitched junior college ball at McLennan Community College, was the Brewers' fourth-round pick in the 2021 MLB amateur draft.
He started five games last season for the Brewers, putting up a 3-0 record with a 1.78 ERA in those starts.
Can Henderson put it all together this season? That's what the Brewers are hoping to see out of the young right-hander in 2026.
