Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy prioritizes matchups against Los Angeles Dodgers southpaw Blake Snell. That led to his decision to not have Christian Yelich in the starting lineup on Wednesday.

The Milwaukee Brewers had a chance to replicate their National League Division Series Game 1 lineup, but manager Pat Murphy decided against it.

Andrew Vaughn will be batting cleanup for the Brewers in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series as this series shifts to the West Coast.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are indeed going with Blake Snell as their starter, so it makes complete sense why Murphy has excluded Christian Yelich from his lineup.

Remember, Yelich played in the team's first postseason game when they faced left-handed pitcher Robbie Ray, but Murphy sat Yelich in Game 1 of the NLCS against two-time Cy Young Award-winning southpaw Tarik Skubal.

Here in Game 3, Yelich's absence isn't the only notable one. Once again, Luis Lara has found his way into the starting lineup, as has Joey Ortiz.

Each of these moves should come as no surprise, as Murphy continues to play matchups, something he's done all year long.

Brewers NLCS Game 3 lineup

1. Jackson Chourio, LF

2. Brice Turang, 2B

3. William Contreras, C

4. Andrew Vaughn, DH

5. Jake Bauers, 1B

6. Garrett Mitchell, CF

7. Cooper Pratt, SS

8. Luis Lara, RF

9. Joey Ortiz, 3B

Lara eyes another big hit

While yes, most people will be talking about the Brewers "benching" their first-ever captain, that's simply not the case.

Murphy is the back-to-back NL Manager of the Year for a reason, and it boils down to decisions like this one.

There's an argument to be made that no one is a bigger Lara fan than Murphy, and that was shown during his electric walk-off hit in the regular season.

Remember, Lara drove in the Brewers' second run during Game 1 of the NLCS, which helped the team pull out a tight 2-1 victory.

Now, he's returning to the lineup in place of Sal Frelick, who went 0-for-3 with a walk in Game 2.

Ortiz has had a quiet postseason

Despite being one of the best hitters in all of baseball since July 4, Ortiz is just 1-for-13 this postseason.

If he wants to keep his spot in the lineup, he's going to need to make sure he pulls out a hit in this series.

Ortiz was just 1-for-10 in the NLDS, and he's gotten off to a 0-for-3 start with a pair of strikeouts in the NLCS.

Seeing as David Hamilton is coming off a 2-for-3 night with three runs and a hit-by-pitch, there's a clear argument to be made that he should be starting over Ortiz, though Hamilton is a left-handed hitter, and that's not a risk Murphy is willing to take with Snell on the mound.
