Milwaukee Brewers' Robert Gasser silenced the Los Angeles Dodgers with a historic scoreless performance.

The Milwaukee Brewers made a questionable call by having Dustin May pitch in Game 3 of the National League Division Series ahead of Robert Gasser.

While yes, the Brewers had to pay quite a bit to go out and get May at the trade deadline, that deal was also put in place so they could add JoJo Romero to the bullpen.

Romero has been sensational, and it was a bit confusing to see manager Pat Murphy go with May over Gasser, knowing how well the 27-year-old has pitched down the stretch.

Gasser, a California native, threw a rock-solid four-inning start in Game 4 of the NLDS, and then threw five scoreless innings in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series against the back-to-back World Series champions.

According to optaSTATS, Gasser is the first rookie in MLB history with a scoreless postseason start against the defending champions.

The Los Angeles Dodgers thought it would be smooth sailing once they got to Abner Uribe, and it was for a brief moment, but then the rest of the bullpen locked in and clutch home runs from Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell changed everything.

How Gasser made MLB history in Game 3

Gasser threw 72 pitches against the Dodgers, 47 of which were strikes. He only struck out three batters, but he drew an astonishing 10 flyouts compared to two groundouts.

Coming off a year where he had a 6.75 ERA in two postseason relief appearances, everything is starting to click for Gasser.

Never before has a rookie thrown a scoreless postseason start against the defending champions, but Gasser's performance may have broken the Dodgers for good as Milwaukee enjoys a commanding 3-0 series lead.

Gasser has been Brewers' best playoff starter

No one would've believed this coming into the playoffs, but through two postseason starts each, Gasser has better numbers than both Jacob Misiorowski and Logan Henderson.

None of these three have gone super deep into games, but that's mostly on the approach changing in the playoffs as Murphy doesn't want these top-tier hitters seeing a pitcher three times in one game.

Also, with the way this bullpen has been pitching, it's almost a no-brainer to go to the 'pen after getting five nearly perfect innings out of Gasser.

Through two starts in the playoffs, Gasser has a 1.00 ERA and 0.89 WHIP. For reference, Miz's ERA sits at 3.24 with a 1.56 WHIP while Henderson's numbers are at 3.00 and 1.11, respectively.
