There's no doubt that the Milwaukee Brewers have big goals for the 2026 MLB season. With spring training literally just weeks away, Brewers manager Pat Murphy probably is looking at his roster.
If one player needs to come through and have a banner season for the Brewers, then it's second baseman Brice Turang.
Could Turang put together a 30-30 season for the team? That's one prediction for him being made by MLB.com Brewers reporter Adam McCalvy. A slew of MLB.com reporters got together and offered numerous predictions for their specific teams in a new article.
For McCalvy, his attention is focused on Turang.
"Turang’s trajectory since breaking into the Majors in 2023 is a straight line up," McCalvy wrote. "His home run total has gone from six to seven to 18. He’s pushed his OPS from .585 to .665 to .794.
"His OPS+ has gone from 61 to 86 to 121," McCalvy continued. "And, after being voted club MVP in 2025, he’ll have the added confidence boost of playing alongside America’s top talent in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
"Turang’s steals slipped from 50 in 2024 to 24 in 2025 as he batted more in the middle of the order, but improved baserunning is on the Brewers’ to-do list for next season, and Turang is a good bet to capitalize," McCalvy wrote.
For Turang to have that type of season, he's going to have to break out fast from the get-go.
The Brewers probably hope this happens. The entire Brewers organization wants to get another National League Central Division title, then move on to the NL Championship Series and, hopefully, the World Series.
Yet the Central Division is not going to be a pushover. Expect the Chicago Cubs to still be a threat to the Brewers' domination.
Can Chicago match Milwaukee's 97-win output from last season? That's not clear.
Yet Turang has a chance to be the sparkplug in the Brewers' offense.
It will be interesting to see if his involvement in the World Baseball Classic, where he'll play for Team USA, affects his preparation for a new season.
But Turang should be able to hit that 30-30 mark. That's not going to be a stretch if Turang can show up ready to fire on all cylinders.
Brewers fans better believe Murphy and the Brewers' hitting staff are going to do their best to make sure Turang can deliver all season long.
