In part two of evaluating the Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff, the resumes of Jacob Misiorowksi and Angel Zerpa get put on display alongside their expectations in 2026.

The Freddy Peralta era in Milwaukee officially came to an end on Wednesday when the Brewers traded the two-time All-Star to the New York Mets along with Tobias Myers for top prospects Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat.

The move put an end to months of speculation surrounding Peralta after the Brewers exercised his $8 million club option in early November. Following the excellent 2025 campaign Peralta produced, his value as an unrestricted free agent would have been too much for the Brewers to meet. Therefore, they moved on.

With Peralta and Myers leaving, the pitching staff will look much different in 2026. As a result, I have begun assessing expectations for the Brewers’ arms, whether it be returning players or new acquisitions.

In the first part of this evaluation, I looked at what the expectations might be for Brandon Sproat and Brandon Woodruff. Now, it is worth looking at what Jacob Misiorowski can do for the club after a strong rookie season, as well as how Angel Zerpa — a lefty offseason acquisition — may be expected to help his new team.

Jacob Misiorowski, RHP: Misiorowski is shaping up to be another home run by the Brewers in player development. The organization selected him with the 63rd pick in the second round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of Crowder Junior College in Missouri.

Misiorowski, 23, produced solid numbers as he made his way through the ranks of the Brewers’ minor league system. Last season, with Triple-A Nashville, Misiorowski logged a 4-2 record with a 2.13 ERA across 13 games (12 starts). On June 12, he made his MLB debut.

While not perfect, Misiorowski rose to the moment in his debut to produce a very good outing. He registered five innings of no-hit baseball against the St. Louis Cardinals in a 6-0 win in which he struck out five batters while walking four.

Misiorowski would appear in 14 more games for the Brewers after that, 13 of which were starts. He finished the regular season with a 5-3 record and a 4.36 ERA. The playoff stage was not too big for him, either, as he appeared in three games that saw him produce a 1.50 ERA and 0.83 WHIP.

Misiorowski has proven yet again the strength of the Brewers’ farm system. Now, the expectation is that he will continue to improve, rather than enter a sophomore slump.

Angel Zerpa, LHP: The Brewers acquired Zerpa in a Dec. 14 trade that sent left fielder Isaac Collins and right-hander Nick Mears to the Kansas City Royals. Zerpa, 26, produced decent results in his fifth MLB season.

Zerpa appeared in 69 games for the Royals (two starts) and had a 5-2 record with a 4.18 ERA through 64.2 innings pitched. His appearances and innings pitched were both career highs.

Zerpa has spent most of his time as a reliever, though he can start if needed. For the Brewers, Zerpa will need to become a stable presence on the mound in the later innings of games.

Correction: An earlier version of this story had Freddy Peralta’s first name misspelled. A correction has been made to reflect the correct spelling.
