Despite posting MVP-caliber numbers and leading the league in defensive metrics, Chicago’s dynamic center fielder remains buried in the latest ballot results as the Midsummer Classic approaches.

MLB released its second All-Star ballot update on Monday afternoon.

In the first ballot update last week, the Chicago Cubs didn’t have much representation at the top of each position. Not one player was top-5 at any position, which meant it was going to be an uphill battle to get any Cubs player to move onto Phase 2 of the All-Star voting.

In the second ballot update before Phase 1 closes on Thursday at 12 p.m. EST, there was not much movement among Cubs players.

Pete Crow-Armstrong Disrespect

It is preposterous that Crow-Armstrong finds himself 14th in National League outfield voting. He has been one of the most impactful players in baseball this season and should be among the outfielders moving on to Phase 2 of the All-Star voting.

Not only does Crow-Armstrong currently rank second in WAR (4.6), but the 24-year-old has fully played his way into the National League MVP conversation.

He is batting .286 with 16 home runs, 12 doubles, four triples, 40 RBI, and 18 stolen bases across 77 games this season while playing top-tier defense in center field. Crow-Armstrong ranks first among all defenders in Outs Above Average (15), Runs Prevented (13), and Fielding Run Value (16).

On top of that, he has been the hottest hitter in baseball over the last few weeks. The 2025 All-Star is slashing .412/.468/.835 with 10 home runs, seven doubles, two triples, 17 RBI, and six stolen bases over his last 23 games dating back May 26.

Crow-Armstrong should certainly have more votes and be ranked higher among the National League outfielders. His 590,136 votes are less than Justin Crawford's (647,932), Mauricio Dubon's (667,778), Kyle Tucker's (766,071), and Teoscar Hernandez's, just to name a few.

Crawford is batting .244 with a -0.3 WAR in his rookie season. Dubon has a .262 batting average with seven home runs and a 1.8 WAR. Tucker currently owns a .234 batting average with a 0.8 WAR, and Hernandez hasn’t played a game in close to a month.

With Crow-Armstrong currently 14th in the recent ballot update, the superstar outfielder will likely not move on to Phase 2 of the All-Star voting. That means he will not be a starter at this year’s Midsummer Classic.

However, Crow-Armstrong should earn his second straight All-Star selection as a reserve for the National League.
