Ryne Nelson didn't have his best game for Arizona Diamondbacks as Atlanta Braves rout home team.

If Ryne Nelson wanted to come out and have a great game on Thursday night at Chase Field for the Arizona Diamondbacks, well, those dreams were shattered.

Nelson worked 4 2/3 innings, gave up seven runs (two earned), and struck out three. But he gave up two home runs as the Atlanta Braves put together a 17-2 win over the D-backs.

Nelson also didn't get much help in the field either. Nolan Arenado ended up making a big error, and it led to five unearned runs. While Nelson was on the mound when Arenado made his error, those five runs weren't charged to him.

Arenado is known for his defense and has a few Gold Gloves to his name as well.

Braves starter Reynaldo Lopez went five innings, allowed four hits, one run (earned), one walk, and three strikeouts.

The Braves slammed four homers in the game. Matt Olson hit a two-out solo home run in the top of the first, putting Atlanta up 1-0. In the top of the third, Dominic Smith slammed a solo homer and the Braves went up 2-0.

The Diamondbacks' Jordan Lawlar hit a solo homer off of Lopez, cutting the lead in half to 2-1.

After an eight-run fifth inning, the Braves were up 10-1 at that point. Then, in the top of the sixth, Mauricio Dubón hit a solo home run.

With position player James McCann of the Diamondbacks on the mound, Jorge Mateo hit a two-run homer to left field. Michael Harris II scored ahead of Mateo as the Braves finished off the big win.

The Diamondbacks were coming off evening their season record at 3-3 with a sweep over Detroit. But they just were not able to muster much offense on Thursday night.

On Friday, the Braves and Diamondbacks get back on the field at Chase Field in Downtown Phoenix at 8:45 p.m. ET (6:45 p.m. MT) on Friday. They will wrap up the four-game series on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

After a travel day on Monday, the Diamondbacks will start a three-game series at Citi Field against the New York Mets.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo probably wasn't happy with what he saw take place on Thursday night.

Maybe Arizona will find a way to get back into the win column on Friday.
