The Arizona Diamondbacks' offense has disappeared during a crucial three-game slate against the Philadelphia Phillies.

In fact, they haven't scored more than two runs in a game since game one of a doubleheader on Saturday, Aug. 29.
The D-backs are 0-3 in their last three games and have been outscored 16-4.
When solely focusing on this Philadelphia Phillies series, the top team in the National League Wild Card race has outscored them 9-2 and is coming off a dominant 7-1 victory.
Last night's ballgame wasn't pretty for the D-backs, a team that is now half a game out of the final Wild Card spot, but they have a chance to salvage this series as Taylor Clarke takes on Andrew Painter.
Phillies score four late runs vs. D-backs
Eduardo Rodriguez had absolutely no run support, though he didn't exactly get off to a hot start as he fell to 14-5 on the year.
This year's ace gave up a pair of runs in the first inning, and from there, the rest was history.
Rodriguez would allow another run to score in the fifth, and while the D-backs scored one themselves in the bottom half, their 3-1 deficit would turn into much more come the eighth inning.
Gerardo Carrillo didn't record a single out as he would allow three earned runs on two hits. He was pulled after just 13 pitches, but by that point, the damage had been done.
As a team, the D-backs struck out eight times and only drew one walk. They left six runners on base but, more importantly, were just 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position compared to the Phillies, who were a dominant 6-for-14.
Clarke is scheduled to make his first start of the year
When Clarke got his first break in the league, it came with the D-backs in 2019. He played in Arizona for three seasons, starting 20 of the 78 games he appeared in.
The 33-year-old returned to Arizona ahead of the 2026 season, but he's been a reliever in all 62 of his appearances.
Now, he's set to make his first start since 2023 against Painter, a once-struggling Phillies starter who has begun to turn things around.
Painter, 23, is 3-8 with a 5.95 ERA, but it's worth noting he's picked up the win in two of his last four appearances.
The Phillies have all of the momentum on their side, so it'll be interesting to see how the D-backs pitching staff looks in the series finale, and if their offense can end a three-game slump.
