Zac Gallen listed as probable starter for Arizona Diamondbacks, who open three-game series against New York Mets.
A 5-2 homestand looks pretty good to the Arizona Diamondbacks right now. But they wouldn't mind picking up their first road victory in the 2026 MLB season.
The Diamondbacks get a chance to do just that on Tuesday afternoon when they open a three-game series at Citi Field against the New York Mets. First pitch in the series opener has been changed to 3:10 p.m. ET (1:10 p.m. MT). That will be the same start time for Game Two on Wednesday.
According to the Arizona Republic, the weather forecast in the New York City metropolitan area is going to get colder. On Tuesday, temperatures are supposed to reach 54 degrees. But those temperatures are due to drop into the low-40s at night.
Wednesday's temperatures will be cold, too. But Thursday's start time remains intact for now.
On Tuesday morning, Zac Gallen was listed as the Diamondbacks' starting pitcher. He's scheduled to go up against the Mets' Freddy Peralta, who used to be the ace of the Milwaukee Brewers' pitching staff. Gallen is 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. Peralta is 1-0 with a 4.35 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts.
Coming into Tuesday's game, the Diamondbacks are 5-5 on the season while the Mets are currently 6-4, according to the Associated Press.
The Diamondbacks enter the Mets series coming off of a split of a four-game series with the Atlanta Braves. Before the Braves series, though, Arizona swept a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers. The Diamondbacks roughed up future Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Justin Verlander and Tigers staff ace Tarik Skubal.
Corbin Carroll continues to be a red-hot hitter for the D-backs. Lawlar has been pretty hot at the plate when he's seen time. Now, though, he's on the Injured List for a period of time.
As for the Mets, they're entering this season with players like Francisco Lindor, Brett Baty, and others in their lineup. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza looks to get his team among the contenders for the National League East Division title this season.
But Juan Soto is on the Injured List, a rare occurrence in his career. So, the Mets will have to play the Diamondbacks without one of baseball's best hitters.
