Ryne Nelson was sharp for Arizona Diamondbacks as the Snakes held off Los Angeles Angels 4-3.

Pavel Smith's first home run this season and Geraldo Perdomo's RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning proved to be enough as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Los Angeles Angels 4-3 at Chase Field in Downtown Phoenix.

Angels starter Walbert Ureña worked seven innings, giving up seven hits, four runs (three earned), walked two, struck out three, and surrendered Smith's dinger. Stretching Ureña into the seventh inning might not have been a good idea. He ended up taking the loss, falling to 4-5 overall.

The Diamondbacks' Jordan Lawlar was hit by a pitch to open the inning, but was summarily picked off. Smith followed with his home run, and Perdomo's 10th double this season brought home Ketel Marte with what proved to be the game-winning run.

Paul Sewald Posts 18th Save

In the top of the ninth inning with two outs, the Angels' Donovan Walton hit his second home run this season off Diamondbacks reliever Paul Sewald to close things tighter at 4-3. Sewald came back to strike out Oswald Peraza for his 18th save this season.

The Angels and Diamondbacks will close out their three-game series with a 12:40 p.m. MST first pitch.

After Los Angeles leaves town, the Diamondbacks will take Thursday off before opening a three-game weekend series at Chase Field against the Minnesota Twins.
