After getting hit by a pitch in Thursday night's loss, Jordan Lawlar now goes on the 10-day Injured List for Arizona Diamondbacks.
Arizona Diamondbacks infielder-outfielder Jordan Lawlar is going on the 10-day Injured List after being hit by a pitch on Thursday night.
After he had an MRI done, it was discovered that Lawlar had a fractured right wrist. This is going to put him out of action between 6-8 weeks. He's gotten off to a really solid start for Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo and the ballclub in the 2026 MLB regular season.
In 18 at-bats, Lawlar has six hits with one home run, two RBIs, a stolen base, and a run scored. On Thursday night, Lawlar smoked a 424-foot home run to left-center field for his first career homer. He's put together a slash line of .333/.400/.956.
Lawlar's home run was pretty much the lone bright spot as the Atlanta Braves smoked the Diamondbacks 17-2 on Thursday night. A native of Carrollton, Texas, Lawlar was the Diamondbacks' No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 MLB amateur draft.
Diamondbacks Make Other Moves
Besides the tough news about Lawlar, the ballclub also made other moves.
Catcher Adrian Del Castillo was reinstated from the 10-day IL and was optioned down to Triple-A Reno after the Diamondbacks' game on Thursday. But he was recalled from Reno on Friday.
The ballclub selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Taylor Rashi from Triple-A Reno. In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Joe Ross was designated for assignment on Friday.
Upcoming Schedule
After getting embarrassed at Chase Field in Downtown Phoenix on Thursday night, the Diamondbacks look to get back into the win column on Friday night. Their series with the Braves continues on Friday night, followed by games on Saturday and Sunday.
When the Diamondbacks-Braves game ends on Sunday, though, the team faces a long plane ride. They'll be heading to New York, where they will play the New York Mets in a three-game series at Citi Field starting Tuesday night. Arizona will stay playing out east, too, as it travels to Philadelphia for a series against Bryce Harper and the Phillies.
The Diamondbacks lost their first three games this season in a series sweep by the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers. Then, they came home and pulled off a three-game sweep of their own against the Detroit Tigers.
