Obviously, they can gain that ground by then sweeping the Padres in the final series of the year.
There's still hope that either the Cubs or Phillies fall off a cliff in these last five games. Chicago was at one point running away with the top Wild Card spot, but they've been incredibly inconsistent as of late.
To expect either the Cubs, Phillies, or Padres to lose each of their last five games is a bit of a stretch, but that's exactly what needs to happen if Arizona wants to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Michael Soroka helped keep this bullpen fresh
Michael Soroka improved to 9-5 on the year by pitching a two-hit gem against the Rockies.
Arizona handed Colorado its 100th loss of the season, and that was courtesy of a seven-inning start from Soroka, where he only allowed one earned run.
The Rockies had just three hits as a team, and that was nowhere near the 13 the D-backs were able to record at Coors Field.
Nolan Arenado hit the lone home run of the game while Gabriel Moreno and Tim Tawa led the way with two RBIs each.
