Diamondbacks Power Past Braves

The Arizona Diamondbacks put together one of their most complete offensive performances of the series Saturday night, overwhelming the Atlanta Braves in a 10-3 victory.

Nolan Arenado was at the center of the offensive outburst, collecting two home runs and four RBIs while reaching the 20-homer mark for the ninth time in his career. His production helped Arizona build an early lead before the Diamondbacks continued to add on throughout the game.

Arizona initially got on the board in the second inning when Arenado grounded out to bring Gabriel Moreno home. The Diamondbacks then broke the game open in the third, with Arenado launching a two-run homer that extended the advantage to 6-2.

Arenado was not finished. He added another solo shot in the seventh inning, giving him three runs driven in via the long ball while continuing what was already a productive night at the plate.

Moreno also played a major role in Arizona's offensive success. The catcher collected three hits, scored three runs and drove in another run while extending his hitting streak to nine consecutive games. Corbin Carroll provided additional damage with a double and triple, while Tim Tawa contributed two hits and an RBI.

Ildemaro Vargas put the finishing touches on the victory in the ninth inning, crushing a three-run homer that pushed Arizona's lead into double digits.

While the offense received most of the attention, Eduardo Rodriguez delivered a strong performance after a difficult opening inning. Rodriguez allowed a leadoff home run to Ronald Acuña Jr. before surrendering another run in the first, but he settled down from there.

The left-hander completed six innings while allowing two runs on five hits. He struck out five and did not issue a walk, continuing a strong stretch for an Arizona pitching staff that has been effective at limiting free passes during the series.

Jonathan Loáisiga and Kevin Ginkel each added a scoreless inning before Phillip Abner surrendered a run in the ninth.

Arizona's victory came with Ketel Marte out of the lineup because of left knee soreness, but the Diamondbacks' offense showed it had enough firepower to compensate.

The Braves had entered the game with Grant Holmes riding a strong stretch, but Arizona quickly changed the course of his outing. Holmes allowed six runs on six hits and three walks and failed to make it through the fourth inning.

With the win, Arizona will look to carry its offensive momentum into Sunday's series finale. Michael Soroka is scheduled to take the mound for the Diamondbacks against Atlanta right-hander Bryce Elder.
