Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Demetrio Crisantes has climbed to the top of MLB Pipeline’s second base prospect rankings.
Demetrio Crisantes has made a significant jump up the prospect rankings following a strong 2026 season, according to MLB Pipeline.
Crisantes is now ranked as the No. 1 prospect at second base by MLB Pipeline, moving up from his preseason ranking of No. 6. The Diamondbacks prospect has continued to build momentum after returning from a shoulder injury that limited him during the 2025 season.
The rise is another positive development for Arizona's farm system as Crisantes has shown improvements at the plate while advancing through the organization.
This season, Crisantes has made an enormous jump between minor-league affiliates, allowing him to showcase his tools and ability to hit at a very high level. So far in 2026, Crisantes has posted a .297/.378/.490 with an .868 OPS.
Crisantes has already reached Triple-A this season, giving him valuable experience at one of the highest levels of the minor leagues. His return to full health has allowed him to get back on the field consistently and show why he was considered one of Arizona's more intriguing prospects entering the season.
MLB Pipeline's latest rankings also reflect how quickly the landscape at second base has changed throughout the year.
Travis Bazzana, who began the season as MLB Pipeline's preseason No. 1 prospect at the position, has since graduated from prospect eligibility with the Cleveland Guardians. That opened the door for Crisantes to take over the top spot.
The Diamondbacks' prospect wasn't the only player to make a major move in the updated rankings. Several players selected within the first two rounds of the 2026 MLB Draft have quickly moved into prominent positions.
Chris Hacopian of the Washington Nationals, Landon Thome of the Chicago White Sox, Jarren Advincula of the Los Angeles Angels, and Chris Rembert of the Pittsburgh Pirates all landed between No. 3 and No. 6 in the rankings.
Washington also has two players among the top three second-base prospects. Devin Fitz-Gerald, who joined the Nationals as part of the trade package that sent MacKenzie Gore to Texas, ranks ahead of Hacopian.
For Arizona, however, Crisantes' rise to No. 1 is the biggest takeaway. His progression throughout the 2026 season has helped him move from a player ranked just outside the top five to the top prospect at his position.
With Crisantes now playing at the Triple-A level and continuing to develop, his progress will be worth watching as the Diamondbacks evaluate their future options in the infield.
