After a tough 10-inning loss on Friday night, the Arizona Diamondbacks were looking to get back into the win column on Saturday night.

Well, that will have to wait until Sunday afternoon. The Seattle Mariners, behind four solo home runs, defeated the Diamondbacks at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. Who was responsible for giving up those runs to the Mariners? That responsibility falls to Arizona starting pitcher Ryne Nelson.

Nelson falls to 2-4 this season and now has a 4.82 ERA. In 5 1/3 innings, Nelson gave up seven hits, five earned runs (four earned), didn't walk a batter, and struck out three. Yet all of those solo home runs were charged to him. 

Seattle scored two runs in the second and third innings, added another run in the fifth, and that was all that the Mariners needed to win.

Bryan Woo was brilliant for Seattle, going seven innings and giving up just two hits without allowing a run. Woo also didn't walk a batter and struck out nine Diamondbacks. He's now 5-3 this season with a 3.44 ERA.

Luke Raley hit his 13th home run, a solo blast, in the second inning to put the Mariners on the board. Dominic Canzone followed with his sixth home run, another solo shot, to boost Seattle's lead to 2-0.

In the Mariners' half of the third inning, Colt Emerson sent his second homer this season over the right-field wall. Julio Rodríguez added his 12th home run this season -- yet another solo blast -- over the center-field wall. That put Seattle up 4-0 at that point.

Cole Young's sacrifice fly in the sixth inning let Randy Arozarena cross the plate, giving Seattle a 5-0 lead.

Arizona scored its lone run in the top of the ninth. Seattle catcher Mitch Garver was charged with a passed ball and Geraldo Perdomo scored from third base.

The Diamondbacks really didn't have a lot of traffic on the base paths. They were 0-for-1 with runners in scoring position and left four total runners on base. The Mariners didn't have a lot of traffic, either. They were 1-for-4 with runners on base and left five runners on base.

With the loss, Arizona falls to 31-26 and is in third place in the National League West Division. The Diamondbacks, if they played in the American League West Division, would be in first place right now. Of course, that's not how this works. The Mariners go to 30-29 this season and they are in first place in the AL West.

Ryan Waldschmidt, Adrian Del Castillo, and Ildemaro Vargas were the only Arizona hitters to record base hits on Saturday night.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo probably hopes his team can be more productive at the plate on Sunday afternoon at T-Mobile Park. That's when this three-game weekend series wraps up.
