There may not be a hotter hitter in all of baseball right now than Ketel Marte.

Marte went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and Merrill Kelly worked seven strong innings as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-2 on Memorial Day at Oracle Park in San Francisco.

With the victory, the Diamondbacks are now five games above .500 at 29-24. That's got to make Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo a happy man.

As for the Giants, they fall to 10 games below .500 at 22-32. San Francisco's rough start this season might lead some Giants fans to wonder if Tony Vitallo is the right man to lead the team in the dugout this season.

But, that's San Francisco's problem. Arizona has some better things happening for them right now, and another one is Kelly.

In moving to 5-3 this season, Kelly, in his seven innings of work, gave up four hits, two runs (both earned), walked two, and struck out four. He now has a 5.25 ERA for the season and, with more outings like Monday's, that ERA probably will get lower.

Landen Roupp took the loss for the Giants, falling to 5-5 this season. Roupp worked five innings, giving up seven hits, four runs (two earned), walked one, and struck out seven.

Gabriel Moreno got the Diamondbacks on the board in the top of the third inning with his third home run this season, a solo blast off of Roupp. That put Arizona up 1-0.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Giants' Rafael Devers, who left the game in the ninth after being hit by a pitch, connected for his 14th double this season. Willy Adames and Luis Arraez scored on Devers' hit and the Giants took a 2-1 lead.

But the D-backs put together a three-run fifth and a two-run sixth to take control of Monday's game. In the fifth, Marte doubled to left and Tommy Troy scored to tie things up at 2-2. Geraldo Perdomo's RBI single to right scored Marte and the Diamondbacks took control at 3-2. 

Adrian Del Castillo followed with an RBI single of his own, bringing home Perdomo and Arizona upped its lead to 4-2. 

Marte Magic struck again in the top of the sixth as his two-run single scored Moreno and Jose Fernandez. The Diamondbacks took a 6-2 advantage at that point. And, the Giants were on their way to another loss.

The Diamondbacks even had more opportunities to run up the score even more. They were 5-for-13 with runners in scoring position and left nine runners on base. San Francisco was 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left four on base.

These teams can enjoy a Monday night by the Bay while other MLB teams are wrapping up the league's Memorial Day schedule. All MLB teams wore special Memorial Day patches on their uniforms as a way to pay tribute to those who served and lost their lives as members of the Armed Forces.
