Dodgers fans, let's talk about it.
Reliever Blake Treinen came on in the ninth inning, look to keep things tied at 6-6 between Los Angeles and the National League East Division-winning Philadelphia Phillies. All Treinen needed to do was get three outs and turn the Dodgers bats loose.
That did not happen at all.
Treinen gave up a game-winning, three-run home run to Rafael Marchán as the Phillies, despite Shohei Ohtani throwing five innings of no-hit ball and hitting his 50th home run this season, scored a 9-6 win at Dodger Stadium.
After Treinen coughed up the go-ahead homer, Dodgers fans started streaming into the aisles and heading for the parking lot. They've seen this act too much this season and didn't hang around to see if the home team had a comeback in them.
Don't worry. They didn't and the Dodgers suffered a humiliating loss at a time where they really need to pile up the wins.
Marchán is Enemy No. 1 for Los Angeles fans. He hit a three-run home run that doinked off the top of that low right-field fence at Dodger Stadium. In any other stadium, that's probably a double off the wall. Dodgers live by the short fence and, yes, die by the short fence.
Let's talk about how the Phillies got back into the game off Dodgers lefty Justin Wrobleski. After one out, Marchán, Harrison Bader and Kyle Schwarber reached base. Bryce Harper's double to right-center field scored two runs and cut into the Dodgers' lead at 4-2.
Brandon Marsh's three-run homer to right field gave Philadelphia a 5-4 lead.
Ohtani later hit his solo homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game up at 5-5.
Then came the ninth-inning heartbreak.
Ohtani is the first player in MLB history to hit 50 homers and record 50 strikeouts as a pitcher in a single season, according to MLB.com.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts must be scratching his head after this loss. He's tried to make the bullpen situation work out for his team, but it hasn't been successful.
Dodgers fans are angry and upset over Roberts' management of his relievers. Just head out to social media platforms and see the rage and sadness. Those fans are looking for any reason to celebrate at this time.
It's just not a time to celebrate for Los Angeles.
The Dodgers and Phillies wrap up their three-game series on Wednesday.
Can the Dodgers find a way to beat the Phillies with a bullpen that works? Obviously, Dodgers fans aren't too happy to think about Treinen or even Tanner Scott coming into a game at its late stages.
The Dodgers have a few hours to put this game behind them. Then it's back to business at Dodger Stadium.
