Toronto manager John Schneider made the announcement on Thursday morning, setting up a solid matchup for Friday night's opener at Rogers Centre.

The pitching matchup for Game 1 of the 2025 World Series is now set. The Los Angeles Dodgers will send Blake Snell out there against Trey Yesavage for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Game 1 will take place on Friday night at Rogers Centre and will be televised on Fox.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider revealed that Yesavage would start on Thursday morning.

Trey Yesavage goes for the Blue Jays in WS Game 1.

Snell's last start was simply incredible. He worked eight innings in a 2-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series. Snell didn't give up a run and allowed only one hit while striking out 10 Brewers.

In his previous two 2025 MLB postseason starts against the Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies, Snell went six and seven innings, respectively. Across those two starts, Snell gave up two earned runs and five hits.

Snell, in the regular season, went 5-4 with a 2.35 ERA.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts believes in Snell, so look for him to come out firing on all cylinders against a Blue Jays lineup filled with the likes of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer.

As for Yesavage, he's 2-1 in postseason starts for Toronto this season with a 4.20 ERA. He's started three games in the 2025 MLB postseason for the Blue Jays, allowing 10 hits and seven earned runs. But Yesavage has struck out 22 while walking just seven.

Schneider hopes that Yesavage can produce a solid outing against the Dodgers, who have sluggers like Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernandez ready to go.

With the starting pitchers lined up now, it'll be interesting to see how Roberts and Schneider set up their starting lineups for Game 1.

It all gets started on Friday night as the Dodgers look to repeat as World Series champions.
