As much as Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow performed well on Monday, that really wasn't the big story.
It was, to say the least, a brutal day for the Dodgers' pitching staff. Jerming Rosario, Blake Treinen, Jack Dreyer, Kelvin Ramirez, and Lucas Wepf gave up multiple runs as the Milwaukee Brewers posted a 24-9 win at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona.
Teoscar Hernández and Max Muncy hit home runs for the Dodgers. While that would be a good story to write a lot about, that just wasn't the case on Monday.
Honestly, after watching what took place on Monday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts might be wondering if he's got a pitching staff that he's happy with now. Sure, Spring Training is still going on and there's still time to get things in order.
But Dodgers fans might have been wincing as they watched pitcher after pitcher follow Glasnow to the mound.
As for Glasnow, he had a pretty good outing. In 4 1/3 innings, Glasnow allowed three runs (all earned), three hits, walked one, and struck out six. He has a 4.22 ERA in Spring Training games right now, which really isn't too bad.
Rosario came on in relief of Glasnow and didn't record a single out. He allowed five runs (all earned) on four hits. Rosario saw his ERA soar to 22.50.
Treinen followed Rosario and he worked 2/3 of an inning. Treinen gave up two runs (both earned), walked one, struck out one, and gave up a home run. What does Treinen's ERA look like now? It's up to 10.80, and that's not a good thing for Treinen to have at all.
Dreyer came on in the seventh and he, too, didn't retire one Brewers hitter at all. He allowed three hits and five runs (four earned), and walked one. Dreyer's ERA now sits at 7.20.
Wepf took the mound in the ninth inning and the Brewers were not done hitting. He gave up two hits and five runs (all earned) and allowed three walks.
What's worse? The Dodgers had a 7-0 lead entering the top of the fifth. And the wheels just fell off. The Dodgers are now 16-8 in Cactus League play.
After Monday's game, the Dodgers made some roster moves.
"The Dodgers optioned RHP Paul Gervase and OF Michael Siani, and reassigned pitchers Cole Irvin and Ryder Ryan, IF Noah Miller and OFs Zach Ehrhard, Zyhir Hope and James Tibbs III to minor league camp," the team announced.
Well, the Dodgers will look to get back on the winning track on Tuesday night. Los Angeles hits the road to play the Kansas City Royals. First pitch is at 9:05 p.m. ET.
