Dodgers pitching legend will take part in World Baseball Classic, putting on the spikes and picking up his glove one last time.

While it looked like Los Angeles Dodgers pitching star Clayton Kershaw had called it a career after the 2025 World Series victory, Kershaw isn't ready to totally give up the game.

On Thursday morning, news came out that Kershaw will pitch for Team USA in the upcoming World Baseball Classic. USA Baseball, which is the national governing body of amateur baseball in the U.S., announced on X that Kershaw would be a part of the United States' team.

"CLAYTON KERSHAW! The three-time World Series champ, 11-time All-Star, three-time NL Cy Young Award winner, and 2014 NL MVP will suit up one last time for Team USA at the World Baseball Classic!" the USA Baseball account on X posted.

California Post reporter Jack Harris, who covers the Dodgers for the outlet, also offered some additional insight into Kershaw joining Team USA.

"Clayton Kershaw isn’t quite done playing yet", Harris posted on X. "He will represent Team USA is the World Baseball Classic, his first career WBC appearance (he had to withdraw from the tournament in 2023 because of insurance issues)".

Kershaw, after playing for Team USA, can just sit around and wait for a phone call. That call should come from the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., at the right time. Kershaw probably will be a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer and join other Dodgers legends in the hall.

En route to winning another World Series championship, Kershaw, last season, finished the regular season at 11-2 with a 3.36 ERA, 84 strikeouts, and a 1.22 WHIP. Kershaw played all 18 MLB seasons with the Dodgers, never straying away from the organization.

Kershaw finished with a 2.53 career ERA and a 1.02 career WHIP. He also had 3,052 career strikeouts, putting him in an elite group of 3,000 strikeout pitchers in MLB history.

He pitched in 41 career MLB postseason games for the Dodgers, starting 32 of them. Kershaw posted a 13-13 postseason record with a 4.62 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP.

With those numbers panning out for Kershaw, he's now going to put on the red, white, and blue for Team USA. Let's see how effective he can be for the team while the World Baseball Classic takes place.
