Could Los Angeles Dodgers Use Another Starter? cover image

While compiling a 'wish list' for MLB teams, article indicates that starting pitcher might be in line for Los Angeles Dodgers.

What in the world does a team like the Los Angeles Dodgers need? They've just picked up two front-line free agents in Kyle Tucker and Edwin Díaz. They've managed to maintain a payroll near the $400 million range.

On top of all that, they're gunning for a third straight World Series championship.

So, what are the things that might help the Dodgers a little bit more?

A new article from Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report points out a couple of things that the Dodgers could wish for at this time. Rymer spent some time reviewing all the MLB teams and coming up with specific "wish list" for each one.

When it came to the Dodgers, Rymer stated that the Dodgers could wish for "an impact starting pitcher" and "another back-end reliever".

Of course, that bullpen situation has caused Dodgers manager Dave Roberts to probably lose some sleep. While he still has his World Series rings, that doesn't mean he would not like to add another one.

In the 2025 World Series. Roki Sasaki came on as Roberts' go-to shutdown reliever. Sasaki, though, will return to the starting rotation, where he's been slotted to pitch as a Dodger. That bullpen situation got a big boost when Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman and general manager Brandon Gomes got Díaz.

"The Dodgers don't need to do anything else after scoring Kyle Tucker and Edwin Díaz, but they could really put their foot on the gas if they added another ace," Rymer wrote. "To this end, wouldn't it be like them if they traded for Tarik Skubal?

"Otherwise, it's a little disconcerting that Díaz is the only new addition to the Dodgers' bullpen," Rymer wrote. "That implies they're trusting Tanner Scott and others to bounce back in 2026, which is taking a lot on faith."

Dodgers fans probably saw too much of Scott and Blake Treinen last season late in games to give themselves bad cases of indigestion. One can only imagine what Roberts was thinking about in those situations, too.

Skubal might be one deal that the Dodgers could pull off with the Detroit Tigers. If Los Angeles was, in some way, able to nab Skubal, then there just might be no stopping the Dodgers from a third straight World Series title.

Maybe they could even shoot for four in a row at that point.
