It's Shohei's world and everyone else is just playing baseball for brotherhood and friendship.
Shohei Ohtani is being touted as a potential candidate for the National League Most Valuable Player honors right now. That's not surprising since he's been stellar for the team this season.
Right now, Los Angeles finds itself heading toward postseason play. Meanwhile, the Dodgers bumped up a spot to No. 3 in the latest MLB Power Rankings from The Athletic.
What are they saying about Ohtani in the publication? MLB writer Andy McCullough offers his thoughts about a potential award-winning season for the Japanese superstar.
"He enters every season as the MVP favorite," McCullough wrote. "And then, pretty much every season, he demonstrates just why. Ohtani followed up his 50-50 campaign in 2024 with a 53-homer, 141-run season.
"He is the best hitter in the National League by a comfortable margin, second only to Juan Soto in on-base percentage and first in slugging," McCullough wrote. "And, as perhaps you have heard, he is also pitching again — he has posted a 3.29 ERA in 13 appearances.
"Depending on how the Dodgers set up their postseason rotation, he could make his October pitching debut in the Wild Card round," McCullough added. "The stage offers him another chance to add to his legend."
What could Shohei do to raise his MVP stock even higher? That remains to be seen as the final days of the 2025 MLB season is upon both players and fans alike.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts knows that any opportunity to put Ohtani back on the field is a plus for his team. Pitching mound, outfield, designated hitter...he apparently can do it all.
Just watch Ohtani come through for Los Angeles again. He's been simply phenomenal in his MLB career which, of course, started while he was with the Los Angeles Angels.
