Los Angeles Dodgers top prospects Josue De Paula and Mike Sirota joined Oklahoma City at exactly the right time.
The Oklahoma City Comets added another championship to the Dodgers’ developmental pipeline, but the Pacific Coast League title also provided a glimpse at two of the organization’s most important young hitters.
Josue De Paula and Mike Sirota both made their Triple-A debuts within the past week, bringing the Dodgers’ No. 1 and No. 2 prospects together at the organization’s highest minor-league level.
For De Paula, however, his arrival in Oklahoma City came under much different circumstances.
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ top prospect had already made his major-league debut earlier in September after making the jump directly from Double-A Tulsa. De Paula immediately showed that the moment was not too big for him, batting .323 with seven RBIs and seven runs scored across 11 games while drawing 11 walks against just five strikeouts.
De Paula makes noise at Oklahoma City
Los Angeles eventually optioned De Paula to Triple-A after activating Shohei Ohtani from the Injured List, but the move does not necessarily end his 2026 season with the Dodgers. Because of the timing of the transaction, De Paula remains eligible to return for the postseason, potentially as soon as the start of the National League Division Series.
That gives his time with Oklahoma City an added layer of importance.
Rather than simply continuing his development in the minors, De Paula is now getting additional at-bats while remaining firmly in the conversation for a potential postseason role.
His brief major-league stint gave the Dodgers a chance to evaluate how his offensive approach translated against big-league pitching, and his return to Oklahoma City lets him keep playing while the organization prepares for October.
Sirota, meanwhile, is at an earlier stage of that progression.
Sirota embraces promotion with Dodgers
The Dodgers’ No. 2 prospect and No. 14 overall prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. His promotion represents another significant step for a player the Dodgers view as one of the organization’s premier young talents.
The timing gives Sirota an opportunity to experience Triple-A competition alongside De Paula, even though the two prospects are at different points in their paths toward Los Angeles.
Oklahoma City had already established itself as one of the best teams in the minors before either prospect arrived. The Comets finished the regular season with 89 victories, the third-highest total in franchise history, before defeating Las Vegas to claim their fourth PCL championship and first since 2023.
Their roster also featured other notable Dodgers prospects, including James Tibbs III and Jackson Ferris. Tibbs produced a 30-homer, 107-RBI season, while Ferris finished the regular season with an impressive stretch that included 48 strikeouts over his final 36 innings.
But De Paula and Sirota give the championship club another storyline.
For Sirota, Triple-A represents the next step toward eventually reaching the majors. For De Paula, it is a temporary return to the minors after already proving he can handle the beginning of his big-league opportunity.
And with De Paula still eligible for October, his time in Oklahoma City could carry significance well beyond the PCL championship.
