Dodgers Included In Latest Freddy Peralta Chatter cover image

Milwaukee apparently is listening to some potential offers for their ace starter.

In today's news about the rich possibly getting richer, the Los Angeles Dodgers are among the teams apparently in the mix for Milwaukee Brewers ace starter Freddy Peralta.

Of course, the Dodgers have added free agents Kyle Tucker and Edwin Díaz this offseason. Now, is Los Angeles even thinking about adding Peralta?

While looking at the state of free agency right now, MLB.com posted an article offering updates from around the league. One section focused on Peralta and what's happening around his situation at this time.

MLB insider Jon Heyman of the New York Post has stated that "the Brewers are continuing to field offers for right-handed ace Freddy Peralta, who is due $8 million for the 2026, his final one before reaching free agency.

"Heyman reported Saturday that there are 'many, many interested teams' for Peralta, including the Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Giants and Braves."

The Dodgers? Well, Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman and general manager Brandon Gomes might see this news and start scratching their heads. They really don't want to see a pitcher of Peralta's caliber on other National League teams like the New York Mets, San Francisco Giants, and Atlanta Braves.

Especially the Giants, their fierce rivals and National League West Division foe.

"Peralta, 29, finished fifth in the National League Cy Young Award voting last year after posting a 2.70 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP across a career-high 176 2/3 innings," according to the MLB.com article. "He struck out 204 batters and has reached 200 K's in three consecutive seasons."

Those numbers are nothing to sneeze at one bit. Peralta knows how to pitch around the plate, keeping hitters off-guard with his pitching arsenal.

Peralta played a big role in helping the Brewers reach the National League Championship Series last season, where they lost to the eventual World Series champion Dodgers.

So, Los Angeles has had a front-row seat to see what Peralta can do when facing hitters.

His performance and numbers have probably been written down in Friedman's notepad. And Friedman probably has checked them out a few times, wondering if making a deal with Milwaukee is worth it.

It also should be noted that the Brewers would want some assets that either are young up-and-coming players, or ones that can immediately have an impact.

Peralta is still getting attention, of course, right now, according to Heyman's report.

Could the Dodgers have one more free-agent signing up their sleeves?
