Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts shakes up the batting order for a pivotal Game 3.
While Shohei Ohtani remains in the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup, he suffered a notable fall heading into what is now a best-of-three series against the Atlanta Braves.
The National League Division Series shifts to Truist Park for these next two games, ones that could see the Dodgers' season come to an end if nothing goes according to plan.
Manager Dave Roberts is making a few crucial adjustments on the fly, and that includes putting Kike Hernandez in the lineup for his first start of the 2026 postseason.
Mookie Betts will lead off as the Dodgers have officially submitted their Game 3 lineup, headlined by Yoshinobu Yamamoto taking the mound.
Dodgers Game 3 lineup:
1. SS Mookie Betts
2. 1B Freddie Freeman
3. LF Teoscar Hernandez
4. C Will Smith
5. DH Shohei Ohtani
6. 2B Miguel Rojas
7. CF Andy Pages
8. RF Kyle Tucker
9. 3B Kike Hernandez
Obviously, there are quite a few noticeable differences. First of all, Ohtani has gone from second to fifth. This is a huge move for the former MVP as he's fallen three spots and is now batting behind the cleanup hitter.
Hernandez had previously batted fifth, so he and Ohtani essentially swapped places in the lineup.
Smith batted third in Game 1 and Game 2, but now he has the honor of batting fourth, despite being 0-for-8 with a pair of strikeouts.
Tommy Edman got the Game 1 start at second base. He batted ninth, but Roberts pinch-hit for him in Game 2, and now he's out of the lineup entirely. Edman was 0-for-5 with a walk.
Rojas, who started at third base and batted eighth in Game 2, goes all the way up to the sixth spot. The 37-year-old has taken 47 at-bats in the regular season when batting sixth, the third most he's had out of any spot in the lineup.
Max Muncy pinch-hit for Rojas in Game 2 and took over at third base, and while there's still a possibility he does something similar in this one, Roberts is going with Hernandez to start the game.
Hernandez is hitting .267 as the ninth hitter this season, and he finished the month of September with a hit in three of his final four games.
Another minor change sees Tucker fall to eighth after going 3-for-8 with a home run and two RBIs in the sixth spot for the first two games.
