Heading into the 2025 World Series, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia informed the ballclub that he was not going to be available.
The Dodgers only revealed that Vesia was going to be away from the team because he was dealing with a personal matter.
On Friday, though, Vesia took to his Instagram account and informed the baseball world why he didn't take part in the Dodgers' win over the Toronto Blue Jays.
"Sterling Sol Vesia," Vesia wrote. "Our little angel we love you forever & you're with us always. Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain we're going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.
"Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time," Vesia wrote. "Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn't be able to do this without them.
"Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support," Vesia wrote. "We have seen ALL your messages, comments and posts. It's brought us so much comfort.
"Lastly, we'd like to thank Cedars Sinai and all the medical staff who helped Kayla and Sterling," he continued. "Every person we came across was truly so incredible. With Love, The Vesias."
Vesia also shared a photo of his and his wife Kayla's hands over their child.
The Dodgers handled this situation with much grace.
All of us at Dodgers Roundtable send our condolences to the Vesias at this difficult time.
