Easton Shelton emerged as one of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ most productive minor-league hitters in 2026.

Easton Shelton established himself as one of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ most productive prospects in 2026, turning in a historic offensive campaign with the Ontario Tower Buzzers.

The 20-year-old first baseman earned California League Most Valuable Player honors after delivering one of the most powerful seasons in the organization’s minor-league history. His production helped distinguish him from other young hitters while putting his name among the Dodgers’ notable prospects to watch moving forward.

Shelton appeared in 109 games for Ontario, finishing the regular season with 37 home runs and 112 RBIs. His home run total led all Single-A hitters and established a new Dodgers single-season minor-league record, marking a significant milestone in his development.

His performance also made him one of the most productive run producers in the California League. Shelton became the first Dodgers prospect since Cody Bellinger to record more than 100 RBIs in the league, underscoring the consistency of his contributions throughout the season.

Shelton’s power takes center stage

Shelton’s home run production was the defining feature of his breakout campaign. He finished with 26 doubles and two triples to go along with his 37 home runs, demonstrating his ability to generate extra-base hits beyond clearing the fences.

He recorded 121 hits in 407 at-bats, producing a .297 batting average. Shelton also reached base at a .403 clip and posted a .644 slugging percentage, combining for a 1.047 OPS.

His ability to get on base extended beyond his hitting. Shelton drew 71 walks during the regular season, giving opposing pitchers another reason to approach him carefully. That patience helped complement his power and contributed to his overall offensive value.

However, strikeouts remain an area for improvement. Shelton struck out 163 times in 486 plate appearances, a rate of approximately 33.5%. While his power production and ability to draw walks helped offset those swings and misses, reducing his strikeouts could become an important part of his continued development.

What comes next for the Dodgers prospect?

Shelton’s performance in Ontario provided an encouraging foundation for his future in the Dodgers organization. His combination of power, run production, and plate discipline helped him earn the league’s top individual honor while setting a new organizational benchmark.

His season also came with areas to address as he advances through the minor leagues. Maintaining his power while making more consistent contact will be an important test against increasingly challenging pitching.

For now, Shelton has delivered a season that stands out in the Dodgers’ farm system. His 37 home runs, 112 RBIs and California League MVP award give the first baseman a significant accomplishment to build on as he continues pursuing a path toward the major leagues.
