Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Eduardo Quintero capped his breakout season with his first Double-A home run.
Eduardo Quintero had already established himself as one of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ most productive young hitters before receiving another opportunity to test himself against more advanced competition.
His first Double-A home run provided an impressive introduction.
Quintero, ranked No. 19 among MLB’s Top 100 prospects and No. 3 in the Dodgers’ system, joined Tulsa after spending most of the season with High-A Great Lakes. The promotion came after the Loons’ postseason run ended Friday, giving the 21-year-old another chance to continue developing before the season officially comes to a close.
He made an immediate impact on Sunday.
In his first game with the Drillers, Quintero connected for a two-run home run in the ninth inning against Northwest Arkansas. The blast represented his first Double-A hit and his 13th home run of the season overall, tying the game before Tulsa eventually fell 5-4.
The result mattered less than what the opportunity represented for Quintero.
The Venezuela native has spent the 2026 season establishing himself as one of the most consistent offensive prospects in the Dodgers’ organization. His performance with Great Lakes marked another significant step forward during his third full professional campaign.
Quintero finished his time with the Loons hitting .308 with a .942 OPS, both career-best marks. He also demonstrated the offensive traits that have made him such an intriguing prospect since Los Angeles signed him as an international free agent in 2023.
One of his biggest strengths has been his ability to reach base and create pressure once he gets there. Quintero frequently occupied the top portion of Great Lakes’ lineup and finished the regular season with 102 runs scored in 111 games.
That production helped make him a major part of one of the better offensive groups in the Dodgers’ system.
Quintero regularly hit near the top of the order alongside fellow Dodgers prospects Charles Davalan and Emil Morales. Together, the trio provided Great Lakes with a combination of on-base ability, power and offensive consistency throughout the summer.
Now Quintero has a chance to see how those skills translate against Double-A pitching.
Tulsa offers a more advanced level of competition, making the final stretch of the season particularly useful for a player who has already accomplished so much at High-A. Rather than simply treating the promotion as a reward for his production, the Dodgers can use these games to evaluate how quickly Quintero adjusts to a new level.
He will not have much time to settle in.
Tulsa opens its Texas League semifinal series Tuesday against Springfield, giving Quintero an immediate opportunity to face playoff-caliber competition. The additional games should provide valuable experience as he continues moving through the Dodgers’ system.
The home run in his Double-A debut is only one swing, but it fits the larger story of Quintero’s 2026 season.
He has consistently produced, set new career highs and continued to climb the prospect rankings. The next challenge is proving that his offensive approach can remain effective as the competition becomes more difficult.
For the Dodgers, that is exactly the type of opportunity they want to give one of their most promising young hitters.
Quintero has already made significant progress this season. His first Double-A homer gives him one more milestone to add to a breakout year, while the Texas League playoffs offer an early glimpse at what could be the next stage of his development.
