With the Winter Meetings in Orlando, Fla., safely in the rear-view mirror, the Los Angeles Dodgers can go back to work.
It's not like they weren't busy in Florida. After all, Los Angeles gave reliever Edwin Díaz a new home at Dodger Stadium. Maybe Timmy Trumpet will show up some as well.
But the Dodgers are really focused on making their business better. The organization's hard work and dedication helped to bring it a second straight World Series championship.
Their work at the Winter Meetings, though, helped put the Dodgers in the No. 1 position in the latest MLB Power Rankings, according to Bleacher Report.
What does Bleacher Report say about the Dodgers' activity?
"The Dodgers are the team to beat until proved otherwise, and adding Edwin Díaz to the back of the bullpen on a three-year, $69 million deal was a flashy way to address their most glaring weakness," according to the article.
"Kyle Tucker is still on their radar, but they could also aim a bit lower and target a second-tier outfielder or a second baseman, with Tommy Edman manning center field if they go with the latter option," the article indicates.
"With a loaded farm system, money to spend and the appeal of being the defending champions, the sky is the limit for what L.A. can do to improve its roster."
That "sky is the limit" mentality might be one put in a stranglehold by Dodgers president of baseball Andrew Friedman and general manager Brandan Gomes.
But Los Angeles has a ton of money, right? Why not go full steam ahead and bring King Tuck in and put him in Dodger blue?
Tucker is a free agent, the No. 1 free agent out on the market. Not going for him at this point might seem foolish.
Yet, is there another MLB club who could truly meet Tucker's salary demands?
Tucker, whoever he goes and plays for in the 2026 MLB season, needs to be ready to prove himself. He can't go to a new ballclub and stink it up.
If he chose to sign with the Dodgers, then Tucker would get top-line coaching and guidance. He's a veteran player with World Series experience and even a World Series championship to his credit.
There's no doubt that the Dodgers enter next season as an odds-on favorite to repeat - three-peat, that is - as World Series champions. Los Angeles is even bringing back Miguel Rojas for one more season.
Getting Díaz on board solves the bullpen problem. That's a great relief to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, too. Plus, it appears that Roberts is going to make sure Shohei Ohtani pitches more this coming season. Roberts has intimated in an interview that Ohtani would just pitch in 2026.
Of course, all of these things can change if injuries start piling up. Staying healthy and staying the course are tantamount for Los Angeles to put another Commissioner's Trophy up at Dodger Stadium.
