May, who pitched five-plus seasons for Los Angeles and part of 2025 with Boston, will now call Busch Stadium as his home park with St. Louis Cardinals.

Dustin May earned a World Series championship ring with the Los Angeles Dodgers back in 2020 as he played five-plus seasons in Dodger Blue. After playing with the Dodgers and Boston Red Sox in 2025, though, May is on the move.

On Wednesday, reports indicate that the St. Louis Cardinals have signed May to a one-year deal, according to ESPN baseball insider Jeff Passan. The May signing was originally reported back on Dec. 13, but no official contract details were available until Wednesday.

"Dustin May's deal with the St. Louis Cardinals is official, sources tell ESPN," Passan wrote. "He will make $12.5 million this year, and the mutual option for the 2027 season is for $20 million."

May was 6-7 with a 4.85 ERA with the Dodgers before going to the Red Sox near the end of the 2025 MLB season. With the Red Sox, May went 1-4 with a 5.40 ERA.

The Cardinals hope that May can find some of his starting pitcher's success. In his tenure with the Dodgers, May went 18-16 overall with 52 starts to his name. May posted a 3.71 ERA for the Dodgers during his time with the ballclub.

May missed the 2024 season due to surgery to repair an esophageal tear. Previously, May also missed time due to a torn flexor tendon in his right arm. May went through Tommy John surgery back in 2021, too.

But May came back last season and has been known to hit 100 mph on the radar gun with his fastball.

In his pitching arsenal, May uses five different pitches: A sweeper, a sinker, a four-seamer, a cutter, and a changeup. He's going to throw his sweeper more than other pitches, coming in at 39.3% usage, according to Baseball Savant.

He'll throw his sinker about 33.6% of the time, followed by his four-seamer at 16.6% of the time.

The Cardinals must have liked what they saw from May, despite his numbers being a bit off last season. Again, if May can show his effectiveness and stay healthy, then he'll be a solid addition to the St. Louis pitching rotation.
