Is A Bo Bichette Landing Spot With Dodgers Possible? cover image

Latest intel from MLB.com article indicates that Dodgers could use someone like Bichette at second base.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are always looking to get reinforcements on their ballclub, especially when it comes to strength up the middle. We're talking about making sure solid players are at catcher, shortstop, second base, and center field - right up the middle.

While the Dodgers have some strength in the infield, there's no reason to not have more when a deal makes sense.

Therefore, is a deal to the Dodgers' organization for infielder Bo Bichette a possibility?

When looking at some possible returns to teams, MLB.com reporter Anthony Castrovince pointed toward a potential move to the Dodgers by Bichette. Of course, Bichette and his current team, the Toronto Blue Jays, squared off with the Dodgers in the 2025 World Series before losing.

Bichette has played his entire seven-year career with the Blue Jays, earning two All-Star appearances. Bichette has a career .294 batting average and a career slash line of .294/.469/.806. Last season, Bichette hit .311 with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs.

"The new scuttlebutt about the Phillies planning to meet with Bichette presents a fascinating alternative (and creates a domino effect for trade candidate Alec Bohm), but let’s focus on the scenario that would add spice to a potential World Series rematch," Castrovince wrote in his MLB.com article.

"A gimpy Bichette came back from a knee injury and showed little rust in going 8-for-23 with four walks in the World Series," according to Castrovince. "Not a bad audition. And his age (28 on Opening Day) and return from injury could make him a candidate for the kind of shorter-term, high-average annual value contract the Dodgers prefer.

"More to the point, the Dodgers could use a boost at second base," the article indicated. "Signing Bichette would address a position where Los Angeles' .650 OPS ranked 24th in MLB last year.

"The still young (and right-handed) Bichette would also provide balance to a lineup that is both trending older and is so strongly oriented around lefties Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman," Castrovince wrote.

"The problem is that the Dodgers would have a suboptimal defensive infield, and they would be embracing an iffy proposition in moving Tommy Edman to center field, given his injury history."

Bichette has a veteran presence about him despite his age. The Dodgers do need to start trending toward younger players. Their lineup, while still potent, is starting to get a bit long in the tooth, if you will.

Los Angeles' front office, led by president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, is always aware of their analytics and statistics. Desiring to get younger is a smart move, one that would get a big boost by adding a bat and player like Bichette to the main roster.
