Los Angeles Dodgers Keep Eyes on Prospect cover image

As Josue De Paula takes the field for Los Angeles Dodgers in Spring Training, he's getting some attention.

When the Los Angeles Dodgers were looking for help in their outfield, maybe they should have called up one player who is making an impact.

Prospect Josue De Paula, who is an outfielder in the Dodgers' minor-league system, is back again in Spring Training at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona.

De Paula hasn't played at the major-league level yet, but he's definitely getting some looks at pitching and fielding for the Dodgers right now.

In a lengthy article from MLB.com about one prospect standing out for each MLB club during Spring Training, Dodgers beat reporter Sonja Chen wrote about De Paula.

"While De Paula just reached Double-A for the first time at the end of last year, he's doing his best to give the Dodgers something to think about this season," Chen wrote.

"The 20-year-old has been getting plenty of Cactus League at-bats, and he's shown why he's considered one of the most advanced hitting prospects the Dodgers have had in some time," Chen continued.

"If he can keep that up while making some strides defensively, then he could be knocking on the door of the big leagues sooner rather than later," Chen wrote.

De Paula split time between the A+ league and the Double-A Texas League in 2025, finishing up with the Dodgers' Double-A club Tulsa Drillers. He mostly played at the A+ level last season, though.

It'd be a stretch to say that De Paula would start this season at Triple-A ball, but he has a chance to make his case with his play in right field.

If any team needed to see some outfield depth look strong, then it's the Dodgers. During the offseason, the big-league club added Kyle Tucker to the outfield mix and gave Tucker a big-time free-agent contract.

De Paula doesn't have that luxury at all right now. He will have to work and grind his way up the organization's chart to bigger and better things.

Still, if De Paula can grab Dodgers manager Dave Roberts' attention, then Roberts just might lean into chatting with Dodgers president of baseball operations Andew Friedman and suggest De Paula reach Triple-A ball in 2026.

What's interesting to note is that De Paula has been in the Dodgers' spring camp before last season. He's been able to showcase what he can do in the plate and in the field.

Keep your eyes on De Paula this season, Dodgers fans, and see what he can do while looking to reach the MLB level at some point.
