It was a good day at the plate for Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman on Monday. Muncy went 2-for-3 as the Dodgers scored a 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in Cactus League play.
Antoine Kelly picked up the victory for the Dodgers and Ryder Ryan notched his first Cactus League save.
After Milwaukee took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, Dalton Rushing's RBI single in the top of the third brought Muncy home. That tied things up at 1-1.
A Jake Bauers home run put the Brewers back in the lead at 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Dodgers, though, were not going to lie down without a fight.
In the top of the seventh, Ryan Fitzgerald's two-out RBI single once again tied things up at 2-2. And, in the top of the eighth, Seby Zavala's RBI single put Los Angeles on top 3-2. Charles Davalan grounded into a run-scoring double play, giving the Dodgers a 4-2 lead.
Milwaukee added a run in the bottom of the ninth, but it wasn't enough to pull off a comeback.
The Dodgers are now 11-6 in Cactus League play.
What's up for Los Angeles in Cactus League play for the rest of this week?
On Tuesday, the Dodgers host the Arizona Diamondbacks at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona. First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. ET. Then, on Wednesday, Los Angeles hosts the Cincinnati Reds. That's dialed in for a 9:05 p.m. ET first pitch.
On Thursday, the Dodgers hit the road to face the Seattle Mariners in a Cactus League matchup. First pitch there is slated for 9:10 p.m. ET. The work week schedule wraps up on Friday with a 4:05 p.m. ET first pitch against the Chicago White Sox.
While Dodgers fans are paying attention to what is going on at Camelback Ranch, some of them might also be watching the World Baseball Classic.
On Monday night, they might have been paying attention to the Team Puerto Rico-Team Cuba game.
If they were watching it, then new Dodgers closer Edwin Díaz played a role in Team Puerto Rico's 4-1 win over Team Cuba in front of a home country fan base in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Newly retired MLB catcher Martín Maldonado had a bases-loaded double to provide Team Puerto Rico with the big hit of the night.
