With the Winter Meetings now in the rear-view mirror, the Los Angeles Dodgers are now looking at any other deals that might make sense.
Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, general manager Brendan Gomes, and manager Dave Roberts are probably comparing notes on Thursday and into the next few days.
A name that has popped up on the trading conversations around MLB is Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow.
According to a report initially put out by ESPN baseball writer Alden Gonzalez, the Dodgers are reportedly open to trading Glasnow.
"The Dodgers 'would not be opposed' to moving pitcher Tyler Glasnow after his name was brought up in conversations this week at the winter meetings, per ESPN's Alden Gonzalez," according to a post on X from Yahoo Sports. "Glasnow signed a five-year, $136.5 million contract extension with the Dodgers in 2023."
Last season, Glasnow was 4-3 with a 3.19 ERA and had 18 starts for the Dodgers. In 90 1/3 innings, Glasnow struck out 106 batters and finished with a WAR of 1.096.
Besides the Dodgers, Glasnow has pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Tampa Bay Rays. He has one All-Star appearance in 2024 to his credit, too.
With the Pirates, Glasnow posted a 5.79 ERA, but lowered that considerably during his time with the Rays. Glasnow pitched six years for the American League team and finished there with a 3.20 ERA. During his tenure with the Dodgers, he has an overall ERA of 3.37.
Los Angeles has been looking to upgrade its outfield situation while stating clearly that they'd be OK with having Teoscar Hernández come back next season. Yet even he was the subject of trade rumors, most notably tied to the Kansas City Royals during the Winter Meetings.
In his pitching arsenal, Glasnow depends on four pitches: a four-seam fastball, curveball, slider, and sinker. In 2025, the velocity on his sinker hit 96 mph while his slider was at 89.3 and his curveball was at 82.
On Wednesday, Katie Woo and Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic took a long view at what the Dodgers still might do in the trade market.
"The Dodgers also remain interested in exploring the trade market, per league sources, and Brendan Donovan remains on their radar," according to The Athletic article.
"The St. Louis Cardinals’ utility player has been one of the most discussed names on the trade market this winter," the article continues. "And with the Cardinals rebuilding, it’s widely accepted that Donovan will be moved. Donovan primarily played second base for St. Louis last season but has plenty of experience in left field and can slot in at right field or at shortstop."
With Donovan showing an ability to play right field, that might be a perfect fit for the Dodgers. He could take over for Hernández should Los Angeles deal him away.
So, while the meetings are finished, that doesn't mean that the Dodgers are done trying to get to a third straight World Series championship.
