Is it any surprise that Shohei Ohtani is listed in the top spot for the Los Angeles Dodgers' predicted startling lineup? Unless you wake up with a bad hangover and forgot the World Series last season, this is not surprising.
Besides Ohtani, a litany of Dodgers superstars fill the Dodgers' predicted starting lineup for the 2026 MLB season. With Spring Training finally here, MLB.com has put out a thorough look at all 30 MLB teams' potential starting lineups.
These are not etched in stone, but MLB.com relied on all of its teams' beat reporters to help put the lineups together.
So, let's take a look at what the article puts together for a Dodgers lineup under manager Dave Roberts. I offer some comments after the player's name that are from myself for Dodgers Roundtable.
1. Shohei Ohtani, DH -- Ohtani, the all-world pitcher and designated hitter, will look to get on base to jumpstart the Dodgers' lineup. Look for him to do his best to reach first or even second base as a leadoff hitter.
2. Kyle Tucker, RF -- King Tuck is putting on Dodger blue after roaming around Wrigley Field last season. With a strong hitting stroke and an ability to play the outfield effectively, Tucker must get off to a fast start. No slow starts this season for Tucker.
3. Mookie Betts, SS -- Look for Betts to have a rebound season both in the field but, especially, at the plate. Betts is a true professional, a guy who takes pride in every single facet of his game.
4. Freddie Freeman, 1B -- The Dodgers are really lucky to have Freeman at first base. He simply provides steady play day-in and day-out for Los Angeles. Don't be surprised if Freeman delivers another steady season at the plate, too.
5. Will Smith, C -- Can Smith give the Dodgers' pitching rotation a solid season behind the plate? Smith is going to be the guy who keeps Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Emmet Sheehan, Blake Snell, and others together.
6. Max Muncy, 3B -- It's nice to have Muncy back at the "hot corner" for the 2026 MLB season. Roberts knows that he can trust Muncy to handle the grounders or sharp line drives at third base. Let's see if Muncy also can deliver at the plate, too.
7. Teoscar Hernández, LF -- Dodgers fans know that Hernández can be a liability in the outfield at times. But this season could become one for him to deliver some redemption in the field. Also, Hernández has a bat that can provide some pop when necessary.
8. Andy Pages, CF -- Pages had a slash line of .272/.313/.744 in the 2025 regular season. Those are not bad numbers and, well, if Pages can repeat or do better, then the Dodgers will be quite happy.
9. Miguel Rojas, 2B -- Rojas' slash line pretty much mirrors what Pages did in the regular season in 2025. If he can deliver similar numbers, while playing steadily at second base, then Rojas will be a player that stand out for Roberts.
In the MLB.com story, a blurb after the lineup is presented reads: "The Dodgers are still deciding where to insert Tucker, but it wouldn't be surprising if he batted as high as second.
"His addition significantly lengthens the lineup, down to Rojas, who would likely be part of the mix at second base if Tommy Edman (right ankle surgery) begins the season on the IL."
Well, that's the projected starting lineup. What about the pitching rotation? One through six is simply awesome.
1. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, RHP
2. Blake Snell, LHP
3. Tyler Glasnow, RHP
4. Ohtani, RHP
5. Emmet Sheehan, RHP
6. Roki Sasaki, RHP
As for the Dodgers' rotation, MLB.com added this blurb about it: "The biggest question mark is whether Snell will be fully ramped up in time for Opening Day.
"If not, then perhaps Gavin Stone or River Ryan would take his spot in the season-opening rotation. Even if Snell misses time, this has the potential to be one of the best rotations in franchise history."
Well, enough about the projected lineup and rotation for the Dodgers. It's time to get down to business and that's going to take place at Spring Training at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Ariz.
