The time is ripe for Justin Wrobleski to stand out in the Los Angeles Dodgers' rotation.
Wrobleski, a young left-hander with a lot of upside potential, just might be in position to have a breakout season.
Should he be able to come through for Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and pitching coach Mark Prior, then it'd be a great pick-me-up.
Blake Snell will not be able to start off the 2026 MLB season at full speed. Because of this, Wrobleski just might set himself up as a mainstay of the rotation for a long time to come.
When looking at some potential breakout stories this season, Eno Sarris of The Athletic spent some time reviewing the Dodgers' situation around both Snell and Wrobleski.
Sarris points out that Snell is just getting himself into game shape. It's going to take some time and Sarris intimated that Snell wouldn't be ready to go full speed until May. He believes this gives Wrobleski a head start from Opening Day onward.
"And the younger Los Angeles Dodger lefty has been putting up good innings totals while refining a strong arsenal of pitches with stuff that he can command," Sarris wrote.
Wrobleski has an amazing six-pitch collection that he can choose from when taking the mound. Check this out. Wrobleski throws a four-seamer, a slider, a cutter, a changeup, a curve, and a sinker. That's a ton of choices for him.
Outside of his changeup, Wrobleski has been really sharp in Spring Training with the location of the rest of his pitches.
"Stability will be something that this Dodgers rotation may need as they encounter their yearly bouts with injury," Sarris wrote.
If Wrobleski, along with Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Shohei Ohtani, and Emmet Sheehan, can break out of the gate in good form, then the Dodgers just might be in a position to jump out with fire and fury in the National League West Division.
For now, keep your eyes on what Wrobleski can bring to the pitcher's mound at Dodger Stadium or on the road.
On Friday, the Dodgers will host the San Diego Padres, their old NL West foe, at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona.
First pitch is scheduled for 9:05 p.m. ET.
Speaking of Yamamoto, he's slated to get the start for the Dodgers. He's 1-0 with a 5.79 ERA and a 1.71 WHIP.
